Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon—Shining Legends (Japanese: 強化拡張パック ひかる伝説 Strength Expansion Pack Shining Legends) is a special expansion released during the Sun & Moon Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Released as the third sub-set of the Japanese Sun & Moon Era, it focuses on Legendary and Mythical Pokémon.
Information
Shining Legends is a special 78 card expansion first made available in English on October 6, 2017. Its Japanese equivalent, the Strength Expansion Pack Shining Legends is a 82 card subset released on July 15, 2017 and is considered a supplement to the third Sun & Moon Era expansion, To Have Seen the Battle Rainbow and Darkness that Consumes Light.
Released in Japan to coincide with the twentieth Pokémon movie, the expansion includes several Legendary and Mythical Pokémon that were featured in all the Pokémon movies released at the time. The expansion also marked the return of Shining Pokémon to the TCG which were last seen in the Neo Destiny expansion.
Similar to the Generations expansion released during the XY BREAK series, Shining Legends booster packs could not be purchased separately and instead, were available exclusively in various set-related products, starting with the Shining Legends Elite Trainer Box, as well as the Shining Legends Pin Collections. Each booster pack contains 11 cards, with 2 guaranteed foil cards.
