- In the original Japanese magazine version, Black's motivation for capturing the Swords of Justice is to gather a force to counter Team Plasma's Forces of Nature. When the rounds were collected into Volume 49, it was changed to Black wanting to impress Drayden so that he may gain entrance into the Pokémon League without an eighth Badge.
