Eterna Forest has a reputation for being a mysterious place, from the abandoned Old Chateau to the strange Moss Rock. Eterna Forest is a long and complex structure of trees that make it a natural maze, where a lot of people get lost. It's home to many Bug- and Grass-type Pokémon, and is currently the only known place in the Pokémon world to find and catch Buneary.
In Mt. Coronet, you'll find Cyrus ranting about perfecting the world before leaving. Collect all the items you can, and simply walk to the other side of this small section of Mt. Coronet, then out of the exit to 208. You won't be able to do anything important here until much later in the game.

Once inside, a woman named Cheryl will ask you to escort her through the forest, since she is worried about being attacked by Team Galactic. When traveling with her, all wild encounters will become Double Battles! If you want to catch any of the Pokémon found here, it is recommended you do so after you've parted ways; while you're in Cheryl's company you're unable to catch wild Pokémon while there are two enemies on the field, and her Chansey will quickly finish off a single Pokémon. You also have the option of challenging pairs of Trainers as a tag team with Cheryl or by yourself by talking to them to fight individual battles. The greatest benefit of traveling with her is that after every battle, she will fully heal your team! This makes Eterna Forest a great place to train for your upcoming Gym Battle.

The most direct route from the southern exit to the northern exit is as follows: travel northeast from the entrance, through the tall grass, and then directly north, following the path between a Lass and a Bug Catcher. Then, continue east a short way to the trees and then south to a large patch of tall grass. From there, continue east until the eastern wall is reached. A considerable distance north of there is the exit, around a small rock ledge. However, you may (and should) choose to deviate from this route, as there are a lot of items and Trainers to be found in Eterna Forest. Once you reach the northern exit, Cheryl will leave. Upon leaving, Cheryl will give you the Soothe Bell as a gift.  Additionally, the Old Chateau (where 01 is necessary to clear the trees blocking it) is near the exit. You'll be coming back here later.

Route 205 (Part 2)
When you come out of Eterna Forest, all you need to do is walk across the bridge. The Fishermen won't battle you unless you talk to them, so if you don't want the experience just go straight ahead to Eterna City.

Later on, after defeating the Eterna Gym and therefore acquiring the ability to use Cut outside of battle, you can Cut the small trees that separate the northern and southern parts of Route 205 and find more items in this shortcut around Eterna Forest.
There are many Trainers to battle on 208, however, two of them cannot be fought until much later in the game, when you have the necessary HMs. Go across the first section of the bridge, make a quick detour north to grab a Great Ball, then continue east down the stairs, and through the tall grass, and you will be at the entrance of Hearthome City.

{| class="expandable" style="margin:auto; background: #platinum color; 10px; border: 5px solid #platinum color light;"
Also on this Route is the Berry Master's house. Each day, he will give you a fresh Berry. You may also get the Berry Searcher Pokétch app that shows where there are Berries ready to pick. His wife sells Mulch, which affects the growth of Berries.

Once in Eterna City, you will see that Team Galactic has set up another Headquarters. As usual, you'll be stopping them from their evil work. The building is blocked by small trees, though, so you must first go to the Gym, and battle the Gym Leader, Gardenia. Before that, visit the statue in the northeast corner of the and Barry will join you. As you walk up to the statue, you'll see Cyrus there. Once again, he will make a reference to Sinnoh's legends.
On arriving at Hearthome City, a lost Buneary will run into you, shortly followed by its Trainer, who will thank you for catching her Buneary, and suggest that you visit the Super Contest Hall (the large building near the Hearthome Gym). Once you get there, you'll find her talking to your mom. They will both talk to you about Super Contests and leave. Go to the front desk and talk to the woman dressed in purple. She will reveal herself as Fantina, this city's Gym Leader, and return to the Gym where you will be able to challenge her.

After Barry and Cyrus leave, first look carefully around the back of the statue for a hidden Draco Plate. As you head back the way you came, you'll meet Cynthia who gives you a copy of 01! Also, talk to the lady in the Pokémon Center for a Pokétch app called Friendship Checker which allows you to tell how much the Pokémon in your Party like you. This is useful when trying to evolve Pokémon that evolve with high Friendship.
After that, you can take a look around the city. Next to the Pokémon Center is Bebe's house, where Sinnoh's administrator of the PC box system lives. If you talk to her and have a spare slot in your party, she'll hand over an Eevee. If you're into Pokémon breeding, consider saving your game before you receive the Eevee, since there is only a 12.5% chance it will be a female and otherwise, you'll have to wait until you have the National Dex to find a Ditto or another Eevee.

Here are some other places you can check out in Eterna City:
{| style="margin: auto;"

|
Underground Man
Right next to the Pokémon Center is the house of the Underground Man, who will give you the Explorer Kit. You can use this daily to travel to the Sinnoh Underground, a vast expanse of tunnels where you can mine for items and create a Secret Base.

There are two potential types of fossils that can be mined in the Underground, but only one type is available per game. It has to do with the last digit of your Trainer ID number (visible on your Trainer Card). If the last digit is odd then you'll be able to obtain the Skull Fossil (Cranidos), but if it is even then you'll get the Armor Fossil (Shieldon). Fossils can be revived into their respective Pokémon in the Oreburgh Mining Museum. The Fossils from Generation I and III can only be obtained after getting the National Pokédex.

Eterna Condominiums
Eterna Condominiums
In this building, Sinnoh's Name Rater can be found, as well as a boy named Norton who will trade a Chatot for a Buizel, and yet another who will give away 67.

Herb Shop
East of the Poké Mart is the Pokémon Fan Club. Go inside and talk to the man with the hat inside. After listening to his rambles, he will give you the Poffin Case, which is essential for making Poffins. Poffins can be made in the building west of the Poké Mart, known as the Poffin House. Near the Poffin House is Mr. Goods. Although he claims he can't remember who he is or his real name, he has dedicated himself to seeking rarities. He gives goods to Trainers once they have met certain requirements. These items can be placed in the Trainer's Secret Base located in the Underground.
Herb Shop
The Herb Shop is a shop that sells herbs with effects similar to other medicines. They're relatively inexpensive, but their bitter taste lowers the Happiness of Pokémon they are used on. Revival Herbs are probably the most useful thing that can be bought here.

Bike Shop
Next to the Pokémon Fan Club is the Pokémon Hotel. If you go to the second floor and talk to the woman with the Clefairy, she will give you a Shell Bell, which heals the user by 1/8 of its max HP when it inflicts damage.
Rad Rickshaw's Cycle Shop
Obviously, this is a store where Bicycles are sold. However, you can't purchase a bike from the store. The owner is being held captive by Team Galactic! You can ask him to read you the manual for the bike here once you receive one.

Oak's House
Amity Square
After you completed the Sinnoh Dex and get the National Pokédex (much, much later in the game), you can go to the house where Professor Oak is staying for awhile. When you talk to him, he will tell you that Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are roaming Sinnoh. After that, the trio will appear around Sinnoh, but rarely.

You can challenge the Eterna City Gym if you want but if you need more time to train or find new Pokémon you can check out the west side of 211 and part of the north side of Mt. Coronet by heading through Eterna City's eastern exit. See this section for more details on Route 211 and this section for Mt. Coronet's North Area.

Eterna Gym
At the northwest and northeast of the city are the entrances to Amity Square, where you can find some Accessories, an Amulet Coin, 43, and 45, but you'll need to make a trip from each entrance to get all the items. Keep in mind that you'll need a "cute" Pokémon to enter - your first partner Pokémon in any of its evolutionary forms will work. Additionally, each hut contains three teleporters that can warp you to a different hut. To access them, enter the hut but stop on the tile just inside the entrance. Take a step forward, right, or left to access the hidden teleporters. It is the only way to access the area where you can obtain the Spooky Plate. A chubby man in overalls goes around Amity Square every day. To reach him, players must go through the east gate and use the teleporters. When found, he will give the player five Berries or one Accessory.

This Gym specializes in grasss. Be aware that the highest-leveled Pokémon you'll encounter here is Level 22 and quite powerful. Gardenia's Grass-types are weak to Fire-, Bug-, Flying-, Ice-, and Poison-type moves - avoid bringing Ground-, Rock-, and Water-types as these types are very weak against her Grass Pokémon. If your starter was Chimchar, this should be an easy fight. If not, the common Pokémon Starly evolves into Staravia at Level 14, and is a good Flying-type that should be considered having on any team, regardless of your starter, due to the lack of Flying-types available at this early stage.

Once inside the Gym, you must find and battle three Trainers before Gardenia will face you. The hands of the giant clock in the middle move every time you defeat a Trainer. When they are pointing north, south, east, or west, you can walk across them to reach other areas of the Gym.
Hearthome Gym
Once you're done exploring the town, head to the Hearthome Gym, located in the northeast corner of the city. The Gym leader, Fantina, uses Ghost Pokémon, which are weak to Dark- and Ghost-type moves. Ghost-types are also immune to Normal- and Fighting-type moves, but Normal-type Pokémon are immune to Ghost-type moves in return. The gym's structure is two darkened rooms each with a maze of Duskull lamps. Although you're given a flashlight at the entrance, it's still easy to see everything on the screen. The goal of the puzzle is to find a blue tile, note down the shape on it, then go to the door that has the same pattern. If you pick the wrong door, you'll find yourself back at the beginning (note that if you leave the gym and reenter, the symbol on the blue tile is randomized, so it probably won't be the same). After the second maze, you'll find Fantina - challenge her to a battle to earn the Relic.

Typically of Ghost-types, Fantina's Pokémon are all pain to deal with, particularly her Mismagius. If you chose Turtwig as your first partner Pokémon or have added a Shinx to your team, their jaws should be able to Bite through Fantina's team with little problem. Her Duskull has high defense stats and may take a few hits to take down. It has Will-O-Wisp to burn and halve the Attack stat of an affected Pokémon, making it lose 1/8 of its HP each turn. Apply Burn Heals right away. It also has Pursuit and Shadow Sneak, Pursuit doing more damage if you try to switch out and Shadow Sneak always going first, like Quick Attack. Future Sight will do damage to any Pokémon, regardless of type, after two turns. Do not forget Future Sight, as it could take you out just as you think you're winning and have low HP. Contrary to her Duskull, her Haunter has very high Special Attack and Speed, but has no Special based attacks, and has quite low defenses. It has Shadow Claw, a Ghost-type attack with a high critical hit ratio, and Sucker Punch, which will strike before you for 80 power, but only works if you are attacking that turn. Like Duskull, Haunter's role is annoyance, and it will disrupt you with Confuse Ray before going in for Hypnosis to set you up for Fantina's Mismagius. Mismagius comes packing the powerful move Shadow Ball, a Ghost-type attack that synergises with Mismagius' high Sp. Atk. Not good! It also has Psybeam and Magical Leaf backing it up, with Confuse Ray to disrupt as well. Staravia would do well here as it is immune to Shadow Ball and its typing halves the damage from Magical Leaf.
Once Fantina is defeated, she gives you the Relic Badge and 65. You can also use Defog outside of battle, which will come in handy later on 210.
Route 209
Having earned your Relic Badge, you've now done everything there is to do in Hearthome. It's time to move east to 209, however before leaving, consider purchasing Great Balls from the Poké Mart - they have a 50% higher catch rate than regular Poké Balls. Make sure your team is fully healed, because as you enter the Gate that separates Hearthome City from Route 209, you'll encounter Barry, who will challenge you to another battle.

First she will send out her Turtwig, which will use moves like Sunny Day and Reflect to help set up the rest of her Pokémon. However, Sunny Day also powers up Fire-type moves, which you can use to your advantage. Gardenia's entire team knows Grass Knot, an attack that does more damage to heavier Pokémon. After Turtwig is defeated, she will send out her Cherrim. If Turtwig had a chance to set up Sunny Day, all of Gardenia's Pokémon will have their Attack and Special Defense increase by 50% due to Flower Gift. Try to knock it out quickly so you don't get hit by Leech Seed, which will drain your HP to heal the opponent. Gardenia will send out her highest-leveled Pokémon, Roserade, last. Its additional Poison type makes it weak to Psychic attacks. Along with the strong attack Magical Leaf, Roserade also has Stun Spore, a move that can paralyze your team, and Poison Sting, a weak attack that can poison your Pokémon.
This time around he'll have two new Pokémon that represent the types of the first partner Pokémon that he didn't pick at the beginning of the game. Additionally, both his first partner Pokémon and his Starly have evolved into their second forms. He shouldn't be that tough if you have a well leveled team, since your selection of Pokémon is much greater than it was last time.

Once you beat her you will receive the Forest, 86, and the ability to use Cut outside of battle. Now, you may enter the Galactic Headquarters but first let's make a pitstop to the Old Chateau.

From the entrance, go east, then north to travel directly to Solaceon Town, collecting any items that are of interest to you. On this route, there is the Broken Tower, which becomes the Hallowed Tower when an Odd Keystone (available from a Black Belt on 208, hidden in Twinleaf Town, or mineable in the Underground) is placed in it. After speaking to 32 people in the Underground, a level 25 Spiritomb will appear to battle you. You will pass the Lost Tower near the end of the route, but you will need to get 05 first for dealing with the fog on the higher floors. Fortunately, HM05 is available not far from here, so pass it by for now. Follow the path north to reach Solaceon Town.
Now that you have Cut, you can visit the Old Chateau which is located in the northern part of Eterna Forest, by the exit. You will find Gardenia around the entrance who, when you talk to her, appears too scared to go in due to the ghosts. It's worth exploring to find some items. Go up the stairs to find the hallway with multiple small rooms. (The only wild Pokémon you'll encounter are Gastly, so you might want to bring some Repels to save yourself some annoyance.)

From here, use the first door on your left to reach a room with a TV. During the Nighttime hours (8:00 PM to 3:59 AM) a Pokémon called Rotom can be found here, hiding in the TV. Unlike in , where you could only find it post-National Dex, here you can find it right now. Since there is no in-game Trainer who uses Rotom, you will need to face it here at some point for it to be counted as seen in your Pokédex. It is at Level 20 and isn't that tough. Unless you want to wait until later in the game, when you can get some better Poké Balls, your best Poké Ball option at this point is the Nest Ball, available at the Eterna City Poké Mart. It has a very low catch rate, so this will be tedious. Remember to save the game before fighting Rotom so that if you fail in some way, you can just turn off the power to reset or perform a soft reset.

Mt. Coronet (south)

Mt. Coronet

In Mt. Coronet, you'll find Cyrus ranting about perfecting the world before leaving. Collect all the items you can, and simply walk to the other side of this small section of Mt. Coronet, then out of the exit to Route 208. You won't be able to do anything important here until much later in the game.

Route 208

Route 208

There are many Trainers to battle on Route 208, however, two of them cannot be fought until much later in the game, when you have the necessary HMs. Go across the first section of the bridge, make a quick detour north to grab a Great Ball, then continue east down the stairs, and through the tall grass, and you will be at the entrance of Hearthome City.

Also on this Route is the Berry Master's house. Each day, he will give you a fresh Berry. You may also get the Berry Searcher Pokétch app that shows where there are Berries ready to pick. His wife sells Mulch, which affects the growth of Berries.

Hearthome City

Hearthome City

On arriving at Hearthome City, a lost Buneary will run into you, shortly followed by its Trainer, who will thank you for catching her Buneary, and suggest that you visit the Super Contest Hall (the large building near the Hearthome Gym). Once you get there, you'll find her talking to your mom. They will both talk to you about Super Contests and leave. Go to the front desk and talk to the woman dressed in purple. She will reveal herself as Fantina, this city's Gym Leader, and return to the Gym where you will be able to challenge her.

A colored background means that the Pokémon can be found in this location in the specified game. A white background with a colored letter means that the Pokémon cannot be found here.

Next to the Pokémon Fan Club is the Pokémon Hotel. If you go to the second floor and talk to the woman with the Clefairy, she will give you a Shell Bell, which heals the user by 1/8 of its max HP when it inflicts damage.

Amity Square

Amity Square

At the northwest and northeast of the city are the entrances to Amity Square, where you can find some Accessories, an Amulet Coin, TM43 (Secret Power), and TM45 (Attract), but you'll need to make a trip from each entrance to get all the items.

Hearthome Gym

Hearthome City Gym

Once you're done exploring the town, head to the Hearthome Gym, located in the northeast corner of the city. The Gym leader, Fantina, uses Ghost-type Pokémon, which are weak to Dark- and Ghost-type moves. After the second maze, you'll find Fantina - challenge her to a battle to earn the Relic Badge.

Hearthome Gym
The Relic Badge

Once Fantina is defeated, she gives you the Relic Badge and TM65 (Shadow Claw). You can also use Defog outside of battle, which will come in handy later on Route 210.

Route 209

Having earned your Relic Badge, you've now done everything there is to do in Hearthome. It's time to move east to Route 209, however before leaving, consider purchasing Great Balls from the Poké Mart - they have a 50% higher catch rate than regular Poké Balls. Make sure your team is fully healed, because as you enter the Gate that separates Hearthome City from Route 209, you'll encounter Barry, who will challenge you to another battle.

Turtwig (Pokémon) If the player chose Turtwig: Chimchar (Pokémon) If the player chose Chimchar: Piplup (Pokémon) If the player chose Piplup:
