A similar but different class was introduced in Generation IV under the name of [[Veteran]].
When paired together in [[Double Battle]]s, they are called {{tc|Old Couple}}s.

An Expert (Japanese: たつじん Expert) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation III games. They are generally depicted as old men or old women in keikogi and hakama.

When paired together in Double Battles, they are called Old Couples.

They tend to specialize in Fighting-types, though in Emerald, some of them use a greater variety of Pokémon.
