In the core series games
In Black and White, Shauntal appears as an Elite Four Trainer of Unova. She is known to write books based on the lives and adventures of other trainers, such as N, Alder, and Volkner. According to herself, she likes writing about trainers' bonds with their Pokémon, and uses her experiences battling challengers as inspiration for her stories.

In the games
She also visits Cynthia in Undella Town during the spring and summer, as do other female Gym Leaders and Elite Four members.
In Black and White, Shauntal appears as an Elite Four Trainer of Unova. She is known to write books. She also visits Cynthia in her villa during the Seasons and Seasons, as do other female Gym Leaders and Elite Four members.

Appearance
Shauntal appears to be an adult woman with purple hair styled in a bob and dark brown eyes. She wears a pair of glasses with a thick, pink rim. She's seen wearing a purple blouse with black details and a purple plated skirt over black stockings. Her neck is decorated with an oversized shawl that she claims she picked because it reminded her of a Pokémon, though it's unclear which one. The outfit is completed by a pair of long black gloves and light pink slippers.

In every official piece of art depicting her, including sprites and 3D models, she is seen holding a salmon pink notebook and a pen of the same color.

Shauntal forms a sync pair with Chandelure in Pokémon Masters EX. Shauntal became a playable sync pair since the game's release.
:"'Eyes brimming with dark flame, this man rejected everything other than himself in order to bring about one singular justice...' That's part of a novel I'm writing. I'm the Elite Four's Ghost Pokémon user, Shauntal, and I shall be your opponent."

* During battle (the first non-KO hit)
Shauntal has also made notable appearances in the game's Main Stories, the PML Arc, and the Villain Arc.

Shauntal makes her first appearance as a stowaway on the train of the Battle Subway. There, she meets White and explains to her that she is there to find inspiration on writing a story. They are soon caught up in a battle between the legendary Pokémon Thundurus and Tornadus. Shauntal is first seen as a stowaway on the Battle Subway in A Stormy Time in the Battle Subway. There, she meets White and explains to her that she is there to find inspiration for a new story. They are soon caught up in a battle between the Legendary Pokémon Forces of nature (Adventures) and Forces of nature (Adventures). Shauntal reveals to White that she has been searching for them so she can find the inspiration she wanted. Shauntal uses her Jellicent to provoke the two Pokémon into fighting even further, much to White's shock. Despite her attempts to provoke them, the two Pokémon are calmed down and taken away by Forces of nature (Adventures). The two then go to board the train, but Shauntal seems worried because she saw someone throw Poké Balls at the three Pokémon just as they were leaving.

The two then go to board the train but Shauntal seems worried because she saw someone throw Poké Balls at the three Pokémon just as they were leaving. They board the train and it heads off to Anville Town.
When the Pokémon League begins, she and Grimsley travel via Shauntal's Golurk to meet up with their fellow Elite Four members. Although worried about Alder's recent defeat at the hands of N, Shauntal expresses glee at the idea of the battle against Team Plasma being a good idea for her next novel. The four then watch as spectators for the tournament before their battles can begin. Although the tournament is won by Black, the event is interrupted by Team Plasma, who attacks the stadium by surrounding it with N's Castle. Shauntal uses her Golurk to try and confront N at the top of the castle, but they are attacked by Hood Man, who uses Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus against them to try and figure out how to activate the three Pokémon's Therian Formes. After gaining sufficient information, Hood Man escaped, taking the Pokémon with him.

Shauntal (Paradox Rift 174)
Shauntal was introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Raging Surf subset and the English Paradox Rift expansion, with artwork by yuu. A Full Art card ultra rare version with artwork by En Morikura was released in the same sets. It allows players to flip a coin and, if they flip heads, switch in one of their opponent's Benched Pokémon to the Active Spot; or, switch their own Active Pokémon with one of their Benched Pokémon if they flip tails.
Shauntal was previously featured in the artwork of the Full Art Secret printing of Chandelure from the Lost Origin expansion, originally released in Japan as part of the Trainer's Gallery collection within the Battle Region subset.

Shauntal (Japanese: シキミ Shikimi) is a Ghost-type Trainer and member of the Unova Elite Four.

In the core series games

In Pokémon Black and White, Shauntal appears as an Elite Four Trainer of Unova. She is known to write books based on the lives and adventures of other trainers, such as N, Alder, and Volkner. According to herself, she likes writing about trainers' bonds with their Pokémon, and uses her experiences battling challengers as inspiration for her stories.

She also visits Cynthia in Undella Town during the spring and summer, as do other female Gym Leaders and Elite Four members.

Shauntal in Pokémon Adventures

Shauntal is first seen as a stowaway on the Battle Subway in A Stormy Time in the Battle Subway. There, she meets White and explains to her that she is there to find inspiration for a new story. They are soon caught up in a battle between the Legendary Pokémon Thundurus and Tornadus. Shauntal reveals to White that she has been searching for them so she can find the inspiration she wanted. Shauntal uses her Jellicent to provoke the two Pokémon into fighting even further, much to White's shock. Despite her attempts to provoke them, the two Pokémon are calmed down and taken away by Landorus. The two then go to board the train, but Shauntal seems worried because she saw someone throw Poké Balls at the three Pokémon just as they were leaving.

Main article: Shauntal (Paradox Rift 174)

Shauntal was introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Raging Surf subset and the English Paradox Rift expansion, with artwork by yuu. A Full Art ultra rare version with artwork by En Morikura was released in the same sets.

Trivia

 • According to an interview with Yusuke Ohmura in Nintendo Dream, Shauntal's theme is based on black cats. She is referred to as being seen as a catgirl and the ribbon around her neck is shaped like a cat's head (the brooch being the nose).[3]
 • Shauntal is the only member of the Unova Elite Four who does not share a specialty type with that of an Indigo Plateau Elite Four member from Generations II and IV. Instead, she shares her specialty type with an Indigo Plateau Elite Four member from Generations I and III: Agatha.
 • Shauntal is left-handed.
 • Shauntal is the only member of the Unova Elite Four who changes a Pokémon in her initial team between Black and White and Black 2 and White 2, swapping out her Jellicent for a Drifblim. This coincides with the introduction of Marlon, whose highest-leveled Pokémon is Jellicent.
 • Shauntal shares her Japanese name with that of the animated series-exclusive town "Cremini Town", which is also called "Shikimi".
 • Shauntal being a writer and a Ghost-type specialist may be a play on the term "ghostwriter".
 • Shauntal is the only member of the Elite Four of any region who has different possible lines at the start of her rematch battle, with five variants in Black and White and five in Black 2 and White 2. Most of her lines reference characters from other mainline games.
