Biology
Biology
Sandile is a short, quadruped with a long snout and tail. Its body is mostly light brown with the exception of black stripes crossing over and under its legs and its pink underbelly. It has a black stripe on its snout in front of its eyes, and black covering the tip of its tail. Its eyes resemble binoculars and are shrouded in black all around their front. The black is a membrane that helps Sandile see in the harsh desert sun. Its long snout is tipped by two protruding nostrils, and its mouth comprises the bottom half. Its feet are flat and contain three sharp, black claws. They are attached to stubby legs on its sides.
Sandile is a short, quadrupedal Pokémon with a long snout and tail. Its body is mostly light brown with the exception of black stripes crossing over and under its legs and its pink underbelly. It has a black stripe on its snout in front of its eyes, and black covering the tip of its tail. Its eyes resemble shaded binoculars and are shrouded in a black membrane all around their front. This membrane prevents sand from getting in Sandile's eyes and helps it see in the harsh desert sun. Its long snout is tipped by two protruding nostrils, and its mouth comprises the bottom half. Its feet are flat and contain three sharp, black claws. They are attached to stubby legs on its sides.

Sandile is only found in deserts. It usually burrows under the surface, with only its nose and eyes above the sand. Due to being so close to the surface, it can move around the desert and allow the heat of the sand to regulate its body temperature. As seen in the anime, in the wild, Sandile can be mischievous and potentially troublesome to humans. However, Sandile will protect another of its species, and can be caring at times.
Sandile is only found in deserts, with the exception of Alola, where the warm environment is comfortable enough for them to appear elsewhere. It usually burrows under the surface of the sand, with only its nose and eyes appearing above ground. Due to being so close to the surface, it can move around the desert and allow the heat of the sand to regulate its body temperature. This also serves as a way of hiding from enemies. Its movement through sand has been described as being similar to swimming. When the sun sets, it burrows deep into the sand to sleep until sunrise. As seen in the anime, in the wild, Sandile can be mischievous and potentially troublesome to humans. However, Sandile will protect another of its species, and can be caring at times. Sandile is an ambush predator, hiding under the sand and waiting for unwary prey, such as Trapinch, to walk over it before it bites on their legs. However, Sandile is not very skilled at hunting prey, thus it also mostly eats anything that collapses in the desert; hence it has been known as "the cleaner of the desert."

Sandile seems to be based on a crocodile; it has traits from both the slender-snouted crocodile and the spectacled caiman. Its striped design is similar to a stereotypical burglar. Based on its Pokédex entry, it also seems to be inspired by a Scincus scincus, a desert skink that's able to "swim" through the sand.
Sandile seems to be based on a baby crocodile; specifically, it has traits from both the Mecistops and the Nile crocodile. The stripes are similar to a stereotypical burglar, with the marking around the eyes resembling a mask or sunglasses. Sandile's movement through sand being described as similar to swimming may reference the Scincus scincus, named so because it is capable of burrowing and moving through sand as if it is swimming.

Sandile (Japanese: メグロコ Meguroco) is a dual-type Ground/Dark Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves into Krokorok starting at level 29, which evolves into Krookodile starting at level 40.

Biology

Evolution

Sandile evolves into Krokorok, which evolves into Krookodile.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Trivia

Origin

Sandile seems to be based on a baby crocodile; specifically, it has traits from both the slender-snouted crocodile and the Nile crocodile. The stripes are similar to a stereotypical burglar, with the marking around the eyes resembling a mask or sunglasses. Sandile's movement through sand being described as similar to swimming may reference the sandfish skink, named so because it is capable of burrowing and moving through sand as if it is swimming.

Name origin

Sandile may be a combination of sand, crocodile, and possibly a play on sandal (footwear).

Meguroco may be a combination of 目黒 meguro (black-eyed) and crocodile.
