Kelly (Japanese: カナタ Kanata) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime. She is a Pokémon Coordinator from Lilycove City who first appeared in Pokéblock, Stock, and Berry.
History
Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire
After meeting at the Lilycove Berry markets, May and Kelly quickly became friends and rivals in the upcoming Pokémon Contest. Kelly escorted the group to her mother's Pokéblock store, where May was introduced to Pokéblock making and a Berry Blender for the first time.
In Lessons in Lilycove, using her Combusken, May got off to a bad start, but managed to scrape through the Lilycove Contest's Appeals Round. Kelly, on the other hand, was very successful in making her way through, earning herself a 27.6 for her Grumpig's Pokéblock juggling performance.
Eventually, Kelly faced off against May in the final round of the Contest. Her Grumpig battled hard, quickly taking control of the round with its Psychic attack. However, May overcame Psychic by having Combusken aim a Fire Spin at the ceiling, dealing damage to Grumpig and causing it to eventually lose control of its Psychic attack. When time ran out, May had the most points remaining and won the Contest, earning her third Ribbon. Shortly after this, Kelly congratulated May, with both of them claiming they learned much from each other, and that they would both be ready for the next time they met up in a Contest battle.
In Hi Ho Silver Wind!, it was revealed that Kelly sent May a letter in the post, wishing her luck in the Hoenn Grand Festival.
Kelly was also seen very briefly at home watching the Hoenn Grand Festival on television in Deceit and Assist.
Pokémon Journeys: The Series
In Battling as Hard as Stone!, Kelly and her Grumpig were seen watching Steven's Masters Eight Tournament match against Ash on television.
