Trivia
- Capsakid is the only non-Field Egg Group Pokémon and the only Grass-type Pokémon to evolve when exposed to a Fire Stone.
Origin
Capsakid's category and appearance suggest it may be based on an immature chili pepper such as the habanero (as alluded to in its Japanese category). The splitting flower over the back of its pepper-shaped head is also based on how peppers grow; the budding berry will grow from inside the flower, causing its petals to cover the pistil of the developing pepper in a manner similar to Capsakid's cap. Its cap and beak also make it resemble the kappa. It also resembles a newly hatched baby dinosaur or chick, with its white cap resembling a piece of egg shell. The cap also resembles a sunbonnet, hats worn by babies to protect them from sunburn, as Capsakid is still vulnerable to harsh sunlight-boosted Fire-type attacks, unlike its evolution. Additionally, there is even a chili pepper named the "Scotch bonnet", for its resemblance to bonnets.
Name origin
Capsakid may be a combination of capsaicin (active component of chili peppers) or Capsicum (the genus of chili peppers), kappa, and kid.
Capsaiji may be a combination of capsaicin, kappa, and 児 ji (child).
