}}

Nidoqueen (Japanese: ニドクイン Nidoqueen) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.
Biology
Physiology
Nidoqueen is a large, blue, mammal-like reptile Pokémon. She has thick tail and mouse-like ears. A horn has grown on Nidoqueen's forehead. Nidoqueen has spikes running down the length of her back. Her lower-jaw, chest-plates and torso are cream-colored.
Gender differences
Nidoqueen is the female of the species. For the male equivalent, see Nidoking.
Special abilities
Nidoqueen have long spikes that ooze poison on contact with foes. Nidoqueen can also cause small tremors by slamming the ground.

Behavior
It evolves from Nidorina when exposed to a Moon Stone. It is the final form of Nidoran♀.
Very protective of any babies, Nidoqueen is fierce.
Habitat
Nidoqueen live in expansive hot savannas and plains.

Diet
It is related to the Nidoran♂ line, but unlike Nidoran♀, Nidoqueen cannot breed.

In the anime
Biology
The Nidoqueen's first appearance was in Mewtwo Strikes Back. Nidoqueen was one of the Pokémon that were captured and cloned by Mewtwo.
Nidoqueen is a large, bipedal blue mammalian Pokémon with distinct reptilian features. Its body is encased with extremely hard scales that serve as excellent protection from any attack and stand up when Nidoqueen is excited or provoked. It has a blunt snout, narrow brown eyes, and large ears with brown insides. There is a small horn on its forehead, a single spine on each ear, and a line of toxic spikes running down its back. Each hand has three short claws, and each foot has two claws. Its lower jaw, the front of its abdomen, and two plates on its chest are cream-colored. It has a thick, powerful tail. Nidoqueen is a female-only species.

Navel Island Gym Leader Danny owns a Nidoqueen. This Nidoqueen was shown competing against Ash's Lapras into freezing a super-heated geyser. Afterwards, this Nidoqueen helped Danny's Machoke and Scyther carve Danny's sled.
Nidoqueen can be quite fierce and is very protective of its young. This Pokémon is at its strongest when it is defending its young, and it will try to seal the entrance to its burrow to protect them. It also places its young in the gaps between the spines on its back, which never release poison when the children are present. Nidoqueen is more adept at being defensive than offensive. Nidoqueen's armor-like scales allow it to defend its children from any attack. When in contact with foes, it can poison them with Poison Point or cause small tremors by slamming the ground. It is also adept at sending foes flying with harsh tackles, and it uses its hefty bulk to execute powerful moves. Being the result of an evolution via Evolution stone, Nidoqueen is rarely found in the wild. However, they can be found in List of Pokémon by habitat.

Gary Oak has a Gary that he may or may not have obtained as a Nidoran♀ or Nidorina. Gary first used his Nidoqueen to defend his grandfather's lab from Team Rocket agents Jessie, James and MTR in A Tents Situation. Gary later used Nidoqueen in Can't Beat the Heat in the Johto League. Gary's Nidoqueen defeated Ash's Tauros and was defeated by Ash's Snorlax.
Evolution
Nidoqueen evolves from Nidorina and is the final form of Nidoran♀.

A Nidoqueen appeared under the ownership of Andi in The Bicker the Better. Her boyfriend, Oscar, had a Nidoking.

Main series
Major appearances
Nidoqueen debuted in Mewtwo Strikes Back, under the ownership of Fergus. She was captured and cloned by Mewtwo. She also appeared in the remake Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution, where the exact same thing happened to her. The Nidoqueen clone was seen again in Mewtwo Returns, along with what appeared to be Nidoqueen babies, despite the fact that Nidoqueen cannot breed and her unevolved form is Nidoran♀.
Nidoqueen made her main series debut in Navel Maneuvers, under the ownership of Danny. She competed against Ash's Lapras in a challenge to freeze a super-heated geyser. Afterward, Nidoqueen helped Danny's Machoke and Scyther carve Danny's sled. She reappeared in flashbacks in A Way Off Day Off and Hello, Pummelo!.
In A Tent Situation, Gary Oak used a Nidoqueen to defend Professor Oak's laboratory from TRT. In Can't Beat the Heat!, Gary used Nidoqueen during his match against Ash in the Silver Conference. She defeated Tauros and was defeated by Snorlax.
In The Bicker the Better, Andi has a Nidoqueen, while her boyfriend Oscar has a Nidoking. They had a Double Battle with Ash and May, and due to Oscar and Andi's communication with each other, they were able to defeat Ash and May with relative ease.
In the original timeline of Arceus and the Jewel of Life, a Hypnosis Damos commanded his four Nidoqueen to attack Arceus with Shock Wave. When Ash and ashfr traveled to the past to prevent this, Marcus, the one responsible for hypnotizing Damos, managed to use the Nidoqueen again to attack Arceus.
Minor appearances
In Pikachu's Vacation, a Nidoqueen was at the Pokémon Theme Park.
In The Power of One, a Nidoqueen sensed the disturbance caused by Lawrence III.
Multiple Nidoqueen appeared in Celebi: The Voice of the Forest.
A Nidoqueen appeared in Extreme Pokémon!, under the ownership of a participant in the Extreme Pokémon Race.
In Historical Mystery Tour!, Ash encountered a Nidoqueen in Xatu's Forest. In this episode, Nidoqueen was depicted with a blue jaw instead of a cream-colored one due to an error.
In A Performance Pop Quiz!, Queenko's Nidoqueen competed in the Anistar City Pokémon Showcase. In Master Class is in Session!, she competed in the Master Class Pokémon Showcase in Gloire City.
In I Choose You!, a Nidoqueen fell under the control of Marshadow.
A Nidoqueen appeared in This Could be the Start of Something Big!.

Pokémon Origins
In File 1: Red, a Nidoqueen was one of the Pokémon seen in Professor Oak's introduction.
Two Nidoqueen appeared in File 3: Giovanni. The first one was seen during the explanation of the Master Ball's capabilities, and the other was sent out by Giovanni to battle Red's Charizard at the Silph Co. building. She was able to defeat Charizard, allowing Giovanni to successfully retreat.
Pokémon Evolutions
In The Show, a Nidoqueen briefly appeared under the ownership of a Trainer watching the Kimono Girls' performance in Ecruteak City.
POKÉTOON
A Nidoqueen appeared in Blossom's Dream.

In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
Red accidentally caught a Nidoqueen in Long Live the Nidoking! while attempting to catch a Nidoking.

By TM/HM
Giovanni has a Nidoqueen, as seen in his Gym battle against Red in Golly, Golem!. She almost defeated Snor by throwing him through the wall, but was eventually beaten by Pika's Thunderbolt in Long Live the Nidoqueen!?. She was later seen very briefly again in the Sevii Islands, when Giovanni used her and his Nidoking to manhandle a biker whom Deoxys had ambushed.

* One piece of information of note is that Nidoqueen cannot breed, although it is not a genderless species, and its male counterpart, Nidoking, can breed. The same is true for Nidorina and Nidorino, respectively.

* For some reason, Nidoqueen's shiny form is not the same color as her male counterpart's normal color, unlike her previous evolutions.
* Nidorina and Nidoqueen's inability to lay Eggs was established by Japanese media before breeding became a game mechanic.
*Nidoqueen and her male counterpart Nidoking share the same species name with Rhydon and Rhyperior. They are all known as Drill Pokémon.
** Despite being in the No Eggs Discovered, Nidoqueen was shown to be capable of breeding in the TV special Mewtwo Returns, when a cloned Nidoqueen and a cloned Rhyhorn produced Eggs containing both baby Rhyhorn and baby Nidoqueen (not baby Nidoran♀). In addition, several of Nidoqueen's Pokédex entries imply it's still capable of childrearing.
* Nidorina and Nidoqueen are the only two Pokémon that cannot breed even though their pre-evolved form can breed.
* Nidoqueen is the only Nidoran evolutionary line member whose Shiny color is not the same as its opposite-gender counterpart's normal color.
* Nidoqueen and its male counterpart Nidoking share their category name with Rhydon and Rhyperior. They are all known as the Drill Pokémon. Additionally, all four are partly Grounds.
* In the Japanese games Red and Green, Nidoqueen weighs 6.0 kg instead of 60.0 kg (as it does in all other games). This has no mechanical significance, as no game mechanics use weight in Red and Green.

Origin
Origin
It shares traits of rhinoceroses, gorillas, rabbits and porcupines.
Nidoqueen appears to share traits of kaiju, rhinoceroses, gorillas, rabbits, and porcupines and is most likely based on its male counterpart, Nidoking. The coverings on its chest and its lower abdomen collectively resemble a two-piece bikini.

Name origin
Name origin
Nidoqueen's name may be based on the word needle. Alternatively, it may be based on 二 ni, two, or 二度 nido, two times/two degrees, referring to there being two distinct evolutionary lines using the name with similar names and traits. The second part of its name is simply queen, referring to its feminine gender.
Nidoqueen may be a combination of needle and queen. It may also involve 二度 nido (twice).

Nidoqueen (Japanese: ニドクイン Nidoqueen) is a dual-type Poison/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation I.

It evolves from Nidorina when exposed to a Moon Stone. It is the final form of Nidoran♀.

It is related to the Nidoran♂ line, but unlike Nidoran♀, Nidoqueen cannot breed.

Biology

When in contact with foes, it can poison them with the spikes on its back or cause small tremors by slamming the ground. It is also adept at sending foes flying with harsh tackles, and it uses its hefty bulk to execute powerful moves. Being the result of an evolution via Evolution stone, Nidoqueen is rarely found in the wild. However, they can be found in savannas and plains.

Evolution

Nidoqueen evolves from Nidorina and is the final form of Nidoran♀.

Main series

Nidoqueen in Pokémon the Series

In A Tent Situation, Gary Oak used a Nidoqueen to defend his grandfather's laboratory from Team Rocket.

In the original timeline of Arceus and the Jewel of Life, a hypnotized Damos commanded his four Nidoqueen to attack Arceus with Shock Wave. When Ash and his friends traveled to the past to prevent this, Marcus, the one responsible for hypnotizing Damos, managed to use the Nidoqueen again to attack Arceus.

Trivia

Baby Nidoqueen and Rhyhorn in Mewtwo Returns
  • Nidorina and Nidoqueen's inability to lay Eggs was established by Japanese media before breeding became a game mechanic.[1][2]
    • Despite being in the No Eggs Discovered Group, Nidoqueen was shown to be capable of breeding in the TV special Mewtwo Returns, when a cloned Nidoqueen and a cloned Rhyhorn produced Eggs containing both baby Rhyhorn and baby Nidoqueen (not baby Nidoran♀). In addition, several of Nidoqueen's Pokédex entries imply it's still capable of childrearing.
  • Nidorina and Nidoqueen are the only two Pokémon that cannot breed even though their pre-evolved form can breed.
  • Nidoqueen is the only Nidoran evolutionary line member whose Shiny color is not the same as its opposite-gender counterpart's normal color.
  • Nidoqueen and its male counterpart Nidoking share their category name with Rhydon and Rhyperior. They are all known as the Drill Pokémon. Additionally, all four are partly Ground-types.
  • In the Japanese games Pokémon Red and Green, Nidoqueen weighs 6.0 kg instead of 60.0 kg (as it does in all other games). This has no mechanical significance, as no game mechanics use weight in Pokémon Red and Green.

Origin

Nidoqueen appears to share traits of kaiju, rhinoceroses, gorillas, rabbits, and porcupines and is most likely based on its male counterpart, Nidoking. The coverings on its chest and its lower abdomen collectively resemble a two-piece bikini.

Name origin

Nidoqueen may be a combination of needle and queen. It may also involve 二度 nido (twice).
