Mamoswine (Japanese: マンムー Mammoo) is a dual-type Ice/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.
It evolves from Piloswine when leveled up while knowing Ancient Power. It is the final form of Swinub.
Biology
Mamoswine is a large, quadrupedal Pokémon resembling a wooly mammoth crossed with a boar. Its brown fur is very thick to endure harsh cold and protect from snow and ice. Its tusks, which are smaller on a female Mamoswine than on a male, are made of pure, solid ice. Mamoswine has a blue mask-like pattern with a white rim around its face and eyes, resembling ski goggles. The fur on its muzzle is tan and shaggy, and its nose resembles that of a pig. Mamoswine's feet are black with three thick toes, and its tail is small.
It can endure harsh cold and hunger for an almost indefinite amount of time, as indicated by a ten-thousand-year-old specimen reviving. Mamoswine lived all around the world during the last ice age, but its population thinned when the climate grew warmer. Mamoswine inhabits cold places, such as mountainous regions and frozen tundra. Weavile is a natural predator of Mamoswine. Mamoswine is believed to have hidden potential that was awakened by the cold climate.
Evolution
Mamoswine evolves from Piloswine and is the final form of Swinub.

Trivia
- Mamoswine's Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, SoulSilver, Black 2, White 2 and Y Pokédex entries are a reference to how woolly mammoths became extinct.
- Mamoswine would have been obtainable in both Generation II and Generation III if it had existed, as Piloswine could learn Ancient Power in both generations. It shares this trait with Lickilicky.
- No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Mamoswine and its pre-evolved forms.
- Mamoswine's type combination is also the only possible combination weak to all three first partner Pokémon types (Grass, Fire and Water), as Rock (the only other type besides Ground, Fire and Water that is weak to either Grass or Water) resists Fire while Bug and Steel (the only types besides Grass or Ice weak to Fire) both resist Grass.
- Mamoswine and its pre-evolved forms are the only brown Ice-type Pokémon.
Origin
Mamoswine appears to be a combination of a woolly mammoth and a wild boar; this combination of features appears to imitate the freatures of the mangalica, a breed of Sus domesticus, known for its wooly hide. The white and blue mask around its eyes resembles ski goggles. Its Ground type may be derived from the fact that the word "mammoth" comes from the Russian word "ма́монт", which itself originates from the Mansi words "ма̄" (earth) and "а̄ньт" (horn). The Ice type, however, may come from the association of mammoths with an ice age. Its Shiny variant's green coloration may be a reference to jade jewelry, an art that dates back to ancient times, in which elephants are commonly depicted. This is further supported by the fact that Mamoswine originated in the Hisui region, with 翡翠 (hisui) meaning "jade" in Japanese. Also, Mamoswine is based on an ancient creature, and must know the move Ancient Power to be able to evolve from its previous form.
Name origin
Mamoswine may be a combination of mammoth and swine.
Mammoo may be a combination of mammoth and ブーブー būbū (onomatopoeia for oinking).
