An Engineer (Japanese: でんきやのオヤジ Old Man Electrician; in Generation I, also known as オヤジ Old Man) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation I games. They are generally depicted as men with hardhats, toolbelts, and toolboxes.
They specialize in Electric-type Pokémon. Excluding the ones found at Trainer Tower in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, all known Engineers are located in Vermilion City or an area directly accessible from it.
In Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Engineers will award three Poké Balls along with prize money upon being defeated.
The Worker class in Generation IV is similar, but its members generally use different Pokémon.
In Pokémon Stadium, this Trainer class is known as Mr. Fix.
