Stealth Rock (Japanese: ステルスロック Stealth Rock) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation IV.
Effect
Stealth Rock sets a trap of levitating stones around the target Pokémon. Pokémon on the target's field receive damage upon switching in. Stealth Rock is unique among the Spiking moves because the amount of damage inflicted upon switching in is affected by type effectiveness. It also does not stack if multiple layers are set. It does not damage Pokémon with the ability Magic Guard. The moves Rapid Spin and Defog remove the effect of Stealth Rock; Rapid Spin removes Stealth Rock set around the Rapid Spinner while Defog removes Stealth Rock set around the target of Defog.
The damage is taken from the victim's maximum HP, and follows:
- 0.25× effective = 3.125%
- 0.5× effective = 6.25%
- 1× effective = 12.5%
- 2× effective = 25%
- 4× effective = 50%
Generation V
Stealth Rock can now be reflected by Magic Coat.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon
The user will lay a Stealth Rock trap on a tile. If any opposing Pokémon steps on the tile, they will receive damage. The trap is hidden until a Pokémon activates it and has no effect on the user or allies. However, unlike the main series games, the damage dealt by Stealth Rock does not depend on weakness or resistance.

Trivia
- In Generation IV, Stealth Rock is one of the few TM moves that no Pokémon can learn naturally.
- The opposite is true in Generation V, where Stealth Rock is no longer a TM and therefore, only accessible through level-up.
- Neither any Electric-type nor any Ghost-type Pokémon learns Stealth Rock, in both Generations IV and V.
