Buizel (Japanese: ブイゼル Buoysel) is a Water-type Pokémon.
It evolves into Floatzel starting at level 26.
Biology
Physiology
Buizel possesses mainly mammalian characteristics with orange fur and paws as well as resembling a realistic cross between a weasel and a sea otter. The collar that is around its neck can be inflated and used as a flotation device when the Pokémon inhales. Buizel also carries characteristics of sea creatures, in that it has two blue fins on its arms and two tails, appearing to be split up, that resembles a fish's fin. Its tail acts as a boat propeller by spinning. There are parallel marks on their cheeks. Additionally, Buizel has cream-colored paw pads on both its fore- and hind-feet and spots on its back that determines its gender.
Gender differences
From back view, the males have two white spots and the females only have one.
Special abilities
Buizel can both fly and propel itself through water by spinning their tails like propellers. Buizel can also use its tail for firing SonicBoom and Razor Wind attacks.
Behavior
In Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, Buizel acted a bit like a dog. It came up and licked Max and messed with the Manaphy Egg as if it was a toy. By inflating its flotation sac, it keeps its face above water in order to watch for prey movement.
Habitat
Buizel is most likely found near swift-moving rivers.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
It could be suggested that Buizel is a carnivore that preys on fish, but it is unknown for certain. In the anime, Buizel has been shown to eat Oran Berries.

Trivia
![](https://staging.archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/thumb/3/3d/Flying_Buizel.png/300px-Flying_Buizel.png)
- Buizel was one of three Pokémon revealed in March 2006 in promotions for Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, along with Mantyke and Chatot.
- Every Buizel that has been shown in the anime so far is a male.
- The fact that Buizel spins its forked-tail like a propeller is similar to Tails of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. This was highlighted in Mounting a Coordinator Assault.
Origin
Buizel seems to be based on a weasel, as well as a river otter.
Name origin
Buizel and Buoysel are a combination of buoy, buoyant and weasel.
