SPOILERS!!!!!!!

201
Spoiler warning: this article may contain major plot or ending details.
201

I added some spoiler warnings to the pages about movie characters, as they contained major spoilers for the movies in which they appeared, but then someone deleted them all! Surely it's really important to have warnings on these pages?! Taromon777 14:13, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

If you dont want to be spoiled, then dont look at the page. Simple Blake Talk·Edits 14:36, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
But visitors need to be warned that there are spoilers on the page! What's the point in having any spoiler warnings at all if only some of the articles with spoilers have them? Some people might read the Latios (anime) article example, thinking it doesn't contain spoilers because it has no spoiler warning, and then find out the entire plot of Heroes before they watch it! I know this is an encyclopedia, but it is still really important to include spoiler warnings on all the pages which contain them. Why don't the articles about movie characters need spoiler warnings even though they contain the exact same spoilers that the articles about the movies do? Why did my spoiler warnings get deleted? Please can I have some help from an administrator? Taromon777 09:41, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
I dislike spoiler warnings. May I ask how you believe how we can have an article about anything without filling you in on some kind of plot detail? We may as well put it on every single page. —darklordtrom 09:46, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
I didn't mean a warning for EVERY spoiler, just the major ones. No, we don't need a spoiler warning because an article mentions that Ash sees through Team Rocket's disquise for the three-hundreth time, but if the article mentions that Latios dies, I think that REALLY needs a warning, don't you? Taromon777 10:21, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
We don't need it most of the time but some of the bigger stuff (the few deaths, MD2's plot twist) could do with a warning. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 17:57, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
OK, so should I add one to Latios's article? I'm just worried I might start an edit war if someone removes it again. Taromon777 18:18, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Eeeer Spoiler warnings should be given in each new section that relates to plot details of movies, past or upcoming, and only movies. Episodes shouldn't have spoiler warnings except in the article itself. Only specific characters that appear in the movies should have spoiler warnings as they relate to the character's role in that movie and potentially release information that some people do not want to see. For Example, characters like Latios should have spoiler warnings unless it is about the Pokémon species in general. :3 PsychicKris 09:16, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Standard Pokémon Images

I brought up this topic on the Project Pokédex discussion, but I didn't get any replies, so I though I'd bring it here instead. This is just a suggestion... do you think it would be better not to use the Emerald and Platinum artwork on the Hoenn and Sinnoh starters' pages? I've noticed that on the official online Pokédexes, as well as recent official books, their RS and DP artwork is still used, and appears to be their "standard" artwork. I know they are the more recent, but Ken Sugimori's Emerald and Platinum illustrations are simply promotional art for those games, and are not considered "standard" by Nintendo. What I'm trying to say is, if Bulbapedia were an official Pokémon site overseen by Nintendo, the Emerald and Platinum artwork wouldn't be used in the main articles, they would use the RS and DP art instead. Does anyone agree with me? Sorry if I made this sound confusing, I didn't really know how else to put it! Taromon777 09:54, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

I get what you're saying, but I disagree. We use the latest Sugimori artwork. It is official artwork, even if for consistency Nintendo uses the RS and DP artwork. --electAbuzzzz 10:05, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Unprotect the Pokémon pages

The staff know what we're doing. Hold your horses. You'll get your pages back soon enough. —darklordtrom 22:28, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Besides, what if Studio Bebop is trying to continue their work underground? If we unlocked the pages now and it turns out Studio Bebop's not actually dead, then Studio Bebop could send someone to mess up our coding just to get their application back up and running, quite possibly someone who would sockpuppet to keep making their employer money. We'd best off wait until it can be undoubtely confirmed Studio Bebop has met its demise.
Actually, how can I be sure you're actually on Bulbapedia's side here? A request like this sounds quite possibly like something an insider working with Studio Bebop might ask for...--Shiningpikablu252 22:40, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
I've been wondering, why were all the pages protected in the first place? I mean, I know there were non-visible changes being made to them, but what exactly? From what's said here, it sounds to me like the pages were being edited specifically to sabotage that Pokedex app or something. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! And now it looks like Studio Bebop now has their website back up, the way it was when it went down, proving they're probably not dead after all. --Shiningpikablu252 02:15, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

I think we should either let them use it, or make a compromise to make it work. Maybe they give some of the money made from that app to Bulbapedia since the people using the app cant click on ads and get us money. Blake Talk·Edits

Kana Names

Hiya, I was just looking at a few articles and noticed that the names of several characters as they appear in japanese have not be translated properly into romaji, or japlish. For example, the article for the character Sir Aaron ( http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Sir_Aaron ) Had the name translated into "Arlon", which is incorrect. アーロン translates directly into Aaron as the " - " is used as a prolonged sound mark and since the first character is A the proper translation is Aaron.

We need to completely revise every single article to that the kana (katakana or hiragana) is written first as a direct translation, and in brackets, the pronunciation/What it is with english spelling. For Example;

  • アーロン Aaron (Aaron)
  • ジラルダン Jirarudan (Geraldan/ Gelardan)

Those are just two examples that relate to human characters alone, I dont not know the full extent of this error throughout the Pokémon but im sure it's quite a few.

P.S. the use of macrons isn't exactly part of japanese speech so I dont really approve of that o.o not that it really matters, I just think it is better to not use macrons for katakana and not just Hiragana. PsychicKris 09:09, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

So basically you are saying to take all of our official romanizations and change them into Engrish. Yeah, I don't think so.. Arlon is the official romaji for アーロン. It can be seen on various Japanese merchandise printed as "Arlon" in romaji. Know that ロ doesn't strictly mean "ro". It can also be used for "lo" since there isn't any Japanese characters espcially made for "l" sounds. Also, アー doesn't always mean "Aa". Extended "a" sounds are frequently used to pronounce as a long "r" sound such as "Ar".
I suggest you do your research in how romanization works first before you tell us that a huge overhaul is needed. We are not changing Blacky to "Burakki" or Nyarth to "Nyaasu". We don't work like that. --ケンジガール 10:15, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Pokemon Sugi images

I think alot of the images we have are too small. I dont know why. I just came across a webpage with very nice quality images. Maybe we could replace some of them? here is the webpage. Some I was considering to replace was for example Zubat. It's current image is wayy too small, and should be replaced with this. Thoughts? Blake Talk·Edits 21:55, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

They're fine. And we aren't going to steal any pictures from another site. R.A. Hunter Blade 22:28, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Did you even bother to visit the page? It says that they can be used freely, just don't hotlink to them (=use the Archives). If you ask me, replacing lowres pics from Archives is always okay. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 22:52, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Since the site does say that anyone can take them as long as they aren't direct-linked (which we don't do anyways) I don't see why we couldn't use them. ZestyCactus 22:54, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I thinbk they're really good, we should use them! Except a couple of the Gen IV ones come up as "X"s on my computer. Taromon 10:30, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Now that I can reply.... I did go to the site, but I probably scrolled down right away. Most of the page wouldn't even load for me. But still. The size of the Zubat pic we have is fine. R.A. Hunter Blade 13:35, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
And the website mentioned is MY website. Yes, you can use the Sugimori images. Only 1 drawback. The new HG/SS artwork, even if it has transparancy, still has white marks arond the image, as if it have been a .JPG before...I don't know why, though. TokoyamiTheDark 09:30, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Official site. Is there any reason an article for this movie doesnt exist yet? Blake Talk·Edits 04:02, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

There was an article for it, called "Pikachu Project 2010", but it got deleted for some reason. Maybe it was because we didn't know enough about it and the article would have just been full of rumours and speculation. Although I think we know enough about it to recreate the article now! Perhaps an administrator should deal with that though. Taromon 16:05, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
There is an article on wikipedia about it, but it is about to be deleted due to having almost no information on it. Basically we know the year, developer, location, and that it has something to do with Lugia and Ho-Oh. Its ok if the article doesn't get made, its just someone had to ask eventually. Blake Talk·Edits 17:00, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
It was deleted because somebody made it when all we knew is that it had Lugia and Ho-Oh in it. TTE protected it for what should be obvious reasons. So. As usual, just wait for it to be OK'd by an admin, and don't go and ask for them to start it any time soon. It's not really that important right now, seeing as how Arceus and the Jewel of Life hasn't even premiered in English yet. R.A. Hunter Blade 21:41, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Eh. True. But still. We don't need the page yet. R.A. Hunter Blade 02:47, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
I think there should still be an article about it. It could just contain the few details that we know, and be protected so people can't put in rumours and stuff. Taromon 19:23, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Pokemon Bubbles

I've noticed that on many pages (especially small ones with infoboxes) there are parts where the pokemon descriptions overlap with other stuff. For example, Cissy. I want to put in a spacer in those pages for those pages but in the eyes of some people it creates too large of a gap. What do you presume we do? BrokenMotor 03:09, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

What browser are you using? I see no overlaps with Cissy on Firefox or IE. —darklordtrom 05:57, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
I've checked Opera and there seem to be no problem.--ForceFire 07:15, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

I checked on Internet Explorer; I see what you mean. It says "Here is a list of Cissy's known Pokémon in the anime" and then there is a massive blank space before her list of Pokémon. It happens because the infobox gets in the way. This is just the way Bulbapedia is designed so I don't think anything can really be done about it. Unless her Pokémon boxes are made narrower, and I don't know how to do that! Taromon 11:27, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

I see what you mean, it should look better now.--ForceFire 11:43, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Ah, that's much better! Thanks for sorting it out! Taromon 13:08, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Didn't know where I should put this, since it applied to a number of pages. I noticed that some Pokémon have been getting their Pokédex entries updated for HeartGold and SoulSilver just by duplicating the Gold and Silver version dex entries. Now, I understand that the Japanese entries may be the same, and that the English versions are likely to follow, but it's not unheard of for Nintendo to restructure the grammar or phrasing of the entry to better suit a modern game. Shouldn't there be something in the entries noting that these are unofficial translations, and liable to change? --AndyPKMN 12:44, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

I think these should just be removed. Even if you do translate them, it will most likely be off. And they might change it for English anyways. I say just dummy the field. That way you wont have to edit all 493 pages. Blake Talk·Edits 13:53, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't see what the problem is with translating and writing in what the Japanese says it is. First of all, everyone that is helping is fully aware (or at least should be) that they will be completely removed and replaced once the English versions come out. The point is to at least convey what it says so that people have an idea if they are interested enough to read it. I think as long as people are willing to help out, it's better to have it filled in than it is to just say 'Unknown' or something along those lines. As far as Generation I and II goes, they are fine without the Japanese with scroll-over English because they are "official" translations of the same exact text. Again, if it gets changed for the actual releases, then we would be replacing it anyways, so there should be absolutely no problem. (Yaminokame 14:07, 18 November 2009 (UTC))

You can see English Pokédex entries in HGSS by trading an English Pokémon over to HGSS... -Sketch 14:21, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Wikia is a free wiki site. To get a wiki like this, you have to download the WikiMedia stuff on your computer or server that will hold all the files and everything for your wiki. Its free, but you have to provide the server and domain. Blake Talk·Edits 17:34, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Actually, Wikimedia is completely unaffiliated with Wikia. Pictures

Hi, I'm currently working on a new article, "Pokémon annual". Does anyone know where I can get pictures of the front covers of the annuals? Would it be OK to take them from photobucket or something similar? I don't have a scanner so I can't scan my own copies of the books. Taromon 11:57, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Some covers can still be found on Amazon UK (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pokemon-Annual-2010/dp/1906918139/). I think the images can be used as long as they don't have a site logo pasted on them. Mefredbob 18:50, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
They have pictures of all the annuals from 2006 onwards. I've uploaded them to the Archives. I also uploaded some pictures from other pages, but they have white gaps at the top and bottom. I uploaded a new version without the gaps but it stretched the image. Do you know why it did that? Taromon 12:55, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
Clear the cache (ctrl+shift+R). It takes a short while for the image to be completely viewable when you upload a newer version of the file. Kevzo8 13:21, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Not in the forseeable future. The admin nomination system was an idea that proved to be... problometic. Get Firefox (or other browser) buttons

I think we should put buttons like the following on Bulbapedia in order to spread Firefox or, at least, any other major browser except IE:

foxkeh-fx3-180x60.png

It should also look more "Pokémonish". For example, we could put a Pikachu in Foxkeh's place and replace its background with a Pokémon-related one, thus making the button more fitting for the 'Pedia. The only problem for me is that I'm not capable of editing pics at the moment. If anyone would like to do it, then feel free to do so and present your works. ;-) But remember that the trademarks must be preserved to remain legal. More info about that here. Pokemon lover 17:42, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Why should Internet Explorer not be spread? Also, why should Bulbagarden get browser buttons? It doesn't really matter what browser is being used. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 17:47, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Because IE does not respect web standards properly even in its latest version and there are still many people on IE6, despite the progressive decreasing of its usage. It's not a case of exclusive notability to Bulbapedia or Bulbagarden as a whole; it is instead a matter of importance to the web in general. Pokemon lover 17:59, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Sounds like spam. Spam is bad. Duh.--Smartkidhen 18:02, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
It is not spam in any way. And buttons or banners don't force anyone to change. On the contrary, it might get people's attention to try a different browser, thus making them not use IE partially or totally by their will and not by forced change. ;-) Pokemon lover 18:03, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Think about how the site's set up as it is. The site pretty much relies on Firefox for the majority of its interface (like the roundycorners, aniPNGs, and so on). It's just better to use it for this particular site, though downloading FF or not is all up to the user. It's not spam. >_> ▫▪Ťïňắ 18:11, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I think this is a good idea - Bulbapedia really does look awful on IE (when you know what BP is supposed to look like, at least), and the site certainly does rely on FF. And I'd be willing to make a button for the cause. :3 梅子 18:14, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Maybe it should not say "Download Firefox". It should say something like "Firefox recommended to view site properly" or something like that. - Vhayes1992 18:16, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Besides, we don't want to make it look like Bulbapedia is outright playing favorites with any certain browser. Including a button that blatantly makes it appear that we're playing favorites with Firefox and make it look like Firefox is required to even view most of the site would give us a bad reputation amongst the Internet community. I, for one, don't plan to switch away from Internet Explorer anytime soon, especially to something as sucky and non-standards-compliant as Firefox. If we do include browser buttons like that, we should include browser buttons for multiple browsers, and yes, that would include one for Internet Explorer 8. --Shiningpikablu252 18:25, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't really matter what browser is used, so I don't think there should be browser buttons. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 18:27, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I am not touching your implication that IE is standards compliant with a ten-foot pole, but you do realize what the "moz" in "-moz-border-radius" stands for, right? 梅子 18:30, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
It stands for mozilla, the company that manages Firefox right? But anyways, this is starting to become forums content, so I think it should be moved to the forums. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 18:35, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Distorted images

I've noticed that a lot of Ken Sugimori's Pokémon artwork is being replaced with larger, higher quality versions. Although there are times I rev up Babelfish, another online translation service, never do I use machine translations as a primary source for translation. If I ever rev up Babelfish for anything wiki-related, it's usually trying to figure out just how inter-wiki links should go on wikis where the interwiki bots do nothing (that is, the French, Polish, and Portuguese ends, as well as the Spanish end which doesn't even have a dedicated interwiki bot). --Shiningpikablu252 17:58, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

If you absolutely need a translation, I recommend to use Google Translate only from translating other languages into English. From there, you can fix any grammar errors and other things. Have the GIFs themselves been removed completely? If not, I'd suggest maybe there's a way so that if the user is using an incompatible browser, then the GIF shows up. Not everyone uses Firefox, you know... TheChrisD RantsEdits 20:43, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
None of the GIFs have been deleted to my knowledge. We're using the new animated PNGs for the HGSS sprites only, as far as I can tell. At least, so far. And it's not worth it to redo every anPNG sprite into GIFs just so we IE users can see it, because then we'd have to replace the anPNGs on the actual pages. There aren't any ways to get the anPNGs and GIFs to only show to whatever browser somebody is using. And on top of that, we don't have the ability to detect which browser is being used anyways, which would make the anPNG/GIF switching system moot, since it wouldn't work. R.A. Hunter Blade 22:31, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
It is, actually, possible to detect a user's browser, though I don't think it's possible to replace page content accordingly - and if there was it would probably put a lot of strain on the server.
Conclusion: use Firefox! It is free, standards-compliant, and awesome! 梅子 22:46, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

We have that? I know there are ways you could, but I didn't think that we, as Bulbapedia, had the ability to do that. R.A. Hunter Blade 22:54, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

If the GIF thing is possible without putting a strain on the server, it would be a good idea.
I don't think use firefox is a good conclusion. Chrome is just as good (at least before the new tab page started messing up). IE is also a good option, even though it isn't standards compliant.
Better conclusion: It doesn't matter what browser you use as long as it works for you. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 23:22, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
It's a good idea, just that we'd have to find people who'd be willing to go through every HGSS sprite and make a GIF version of it. R.A. Hunter Blade 23:29, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
As long as you're not using IE5 or something pngs will render correctly. Whether they will animate or not is dependent on your browser, but really, you're not missing too much. TTEchidna 23:35, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

border-radius [FYI]

Well, since it was discussed here before (archive 8)… I've tested border-radius CSS property in the recent pre-alpha of Opera 10.50 and it appears to be working. So, when adding new styles please consider adding this unprefixed version too. So, if you want 1em border radius you need to write:

-moz-border-radius: 1em; /* Mozilla Fx prefixed as currently used here. May be unneeded in the far future but probably not now. */

border-radius: 1em; /* Unprefixed version as defined by CSS standard. */

It would be quite some time until it hits release (windows version will be released earlier though) but it'll save you from future hassle of adding this. Somewhere in the future other browsers will implement this as an unprefixed property too. It breaks nothing. Though it is recommended that you write prefixed version before an unprefixed one. — Tenno Seremel 02:13, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, what I think I may do is build the border-radius style (prefixed and unprefixed) into a div class, so it can be handled directly from the CSS page; as it is, it's already going to be a big job to take all the rounded codes and templates and update them separately. Best to plan ahead for this. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 13:03, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

If you have issues with the system, its probably best to ask Maverick Nate directly. —darklordtrom 04:30, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Temporary Mewtwo Theme?

Is there any way we could change the Main Page for Mewtwo for just Today, the 6th? It is Mewtwo's Birthday...--Purimpopoie 05:15, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Sure, why not. TTEchidna 05:20, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I was wondering why everything was so pink. At first I started thing Mew. Anyways, happy birthday Mewtwo! Fudgenuggets 09:00, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
That's a great idea! Happy birthday Mewtwo! Taromon 12:55, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Can you change back now? Coz i liked the old one. Maybe on the day HGSS are released we could have a "Shiny" theme, because of the "Birthday" of the "Shiny's"! SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 12:52, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Happy B'Day Mewtwo. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 13:48, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
No shiny day please >< --Emp, out 14:43, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
How would we do a shiny theme? Better if we do a... you know, HGSS theme because that's when it's coming out? If we were to have a shiny day because GS introduced the concept... then... does that mean we'll have a Hold Item day and a Pokérus Day? D8 ▫▪Ťïňắ 17:38, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Um, Mewtwo's birthday is over now, please can we revert to something a little less bright? ;) Kidburla 23:01, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, back to the HGSS theme. Until the end of the month. TTEchidna 23:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Latest Message from the Editor

"(really, creating the Sinnoh Pokédex listing was no big deal)" This should be removed. You are telling people not to create articles for bragging rights and then immediately bragging about an important article you created. The editor-in-chief's behavior should be exemplary. Ultimara6 07:39, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

I think he was joking... :) Kidburla 23:03, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
I was joking. See, the thing is, I made the Sdex listing when I was a noob. It looked like crap, was barely done at all, but I stuck with the style of the rest of the 'dex listings were at the time. Unfortunately what's happening today is that many of our articles, especially those made to circumvent the protection put on the title we planned to use, are absolute garbage. Seen the rant I put in the forums? Seen the deleted revision of the (wrongly-titled) "Jun (Anime)" page? Seen the first revision of Oblivia, back when it was at "Region of oblivia"?
See, I'm pointing it out. Making articles for bragging rights, to say "yay I'm the first revision" is dumb. When I made the Sinnoh Dex, I made it to compile the information we knew. I look back at it and say, "hey, that was pretty good for what we knew then", four years ago. The problem is, lately, people just make the pages so that there's something there, even if we know nothing. Heck, if that article were made by a new user today, it'd likely be at "shino dex numbers" and say "lucario is in the shinoh dex" and have a "THIS IS UNFINISHED" notice at the top.
My behavior should indeed be exemplary. Which is why I point everyone to my first few contribs. Were they awesome? Of course they weren't. They suck compared to the templates and pages I make today. But they prove that all you need to do is learn the style before you do something dumb, and draw from other pages made before. Plus, hey, Zhen and Pie thought my first template sucked. It was too huge. Now, you're new. Go out and make some awesome edits in areas we need it. If you have a Gen III game, play through it, Hoenn's where we're really lacking in good information. TTEchidna 23:50, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Regardless, even if you were joking, in the context of the news post it sounds like you are bragging. The rest of the content of the news post, the fact that I am new, and the fact that people have made bad edits in the past are irrelevant.Ultimara6 04:33, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Haha. That actually has everything to do with it. It wouldn't sound out of context if you knew anything about TTE's personality. There's one of two things that most newer users normally don't understand: they either think that they can add their opinion to pages as fact and then use talk pages as a forum, or they think that this has to be formal all the time, every second, for every single little thing.
It doesn't have to be. If it was, then nothing would get done around here. There would only be the administrators and a few users editing. Yeah, most new users just join to have an account to say that they're part of the Pedia and they never edit, but there are a bunch of them that do actually help. We've had to be more strict than normal the past few months or so, maybe even half year, because of the hype of HGSS and the other games (not to mention M12). Even then, we're still not all that strict, as long as people follow the rules.
And really, you being new does have something to do with this. Instead of trying to point out a fault that doesn't exist, try editing something other than a talk page. We'll sometimes have users join just to complain about things on the talk page and never actually contribute, and I really hope that you won't be one of them. R.A. Hunter Blade 05:10, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure your knowledge of who's who on the Bulbapedia administration team is unsurpassed, but you ignore the fact that most of the people who view this site are not admins, they are not even editors and probably don't even have an account, but people looking for information about Pokemon. For this fact, and despite the possible perception of this encyclopedia's subject matter, everything on the site should strive to be as NPOV as possible. When I read the news article I was perfectly fine with it, besides one parenthetical. I empathize with TTE's plight, and agree that the announcement was probably a necessary one, but it sticks in my craw that a "joke", as he calls it, would be jutting out of the news post like a sore thumb. I know nothing about TTE as a person, and I could really care less. I am simply voicing the opinion of what I feel would be the average Bulbapedia reader's. I thought that my suggestion might help to make the front page of the site, the thing that everyone who visits it sees, look a little more officious, and I'm surprised that it has been met as it has. Ultimara6 05:32, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
I actually don't know much about many of the admins, and most of the users. As for who views and uses the site, I know most aren't admins or users. There's also the fact that most people who come here looking for information, don't really read much on the front page, other than maybe the news and the side menu that has the links. The reason that we're so relaxed here about some things, is that everybody is going to get offended by something. Heck, I know some people who hate Pokémon because of the rumors of witchcraft and Satanism that surfaced over 10 years ago, and they never bothered getting their facts straight. And there are some that think battling "animals" or "pets" is cruel, when it's just a video game, yet they go play Call of Duty and Halo and don't worry about actually killing something, in a sense. It's all a matter of opinion, and we try to keep things here nonPOV as you said. But how is one person's comment, much less the EoC on his own "Message from the Editor" section, really going to matter? Of course it's a POV, because it's in his words, from his mind. And it's a POV, because you think that it sounds... let's say, "unofficial" in a way. I really don't have a problem with it, because it's his section he can do whatever he wants. I don't think really anybody else would have a problem with it either. And if you want to get technical, this whole site is POV, because it's compromised of information from Pokémon fans. If it was from Yu-Ghi-Oh fans, the site would probably be a hate site, not an encyclopedia. R.A. Hunter Blade 06:09, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Seriously, Yu-Ghi-Oh fan/= Pokémon hater. Why would they have a reason to hate Pokémon? I know many fans of Yu-Ghi-Oh who like Pokémon. Grawp would make much more sense. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 20:59, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Regarding your comment on Gen III Echidna, I've got Ruby and Emerald, are there any articles I could help improve? Taromon 21:11, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
And I have Ruby and LeafGreen. Tell us what the wiki needs, TTE, and we can probably get right on it. --AndyPKMN 12:38, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
I have Ruby, Emerald, and FireRed. I'll try helping by restarting Ruby and going through every route thoroughly when I get a chance. Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 22:27, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
The only game I have that I'll be restarting any time soon is Pearl, but I think we have nearly all of that. R.A. Hunter Blade 04:09, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

What's with the new design? I like it, but why was it changed? --GEN1KING 16:20, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Ken Sugimori Artwork

What's happening to Ken Sugimori's official artwork? New versions are being uploaded, which are incorrectly coloured and are so huge that they go all glitchy when viewed full-size. The images of Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise and Rayquaza are clear examples. Would it be OK if I reverted them back to previous versions? Just thought I'd better check first, I don't want to start a "revert war". Taromon 13:54, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

I reverted Lucario's and got re-reverted saying "then find me a CMYK to RGB converter"... I think this is very unnecessary and should be changed back. Why make bigger off-color versions? Blake Talk·Edits 16:06, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
I don't think that we need such huge images... all we use them for is in the infobox, and we don't really need 493+ of these hi-res images eating up space. And yeah, they have really messed up colors. :/ The older images from like 2005 or so are really small, though, so if someone could get the Sugimori art around like... idk 300-400 pixels high or so for the Pokémon? Not 1000+. D: ▫▪Ťïňắ 17:45, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

An idea for the location articles

This is just an idea I had... on the articles about locations, such as routes, caves etc, how about a list of HMs required to fully explore the area? Taromon 13:43, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

cool idea. SpecialK Leiks Lucario and The Celebi Glitch 16:02, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
