Meeting up with Candice, the Snowpoint City Gym Leader, the gang watch as Zoey gains her fifth ribbon. Trivia
- Professor Oak's Pokémon lecture: Magby
- Much like how Dawn's main rival, Zoey, has been shown in this episode to have all the ribbons necessary to enter the Sinnoh Grand Festival, Ash's main rival Paul has been shown to have the 8 badges in order to compete in the Sinnoh League in the same episode.
- While Team Rocket are hiding in the bushes from the gang, James worries about how to get away without being spotted by them, and Meowth replies that, "The twerps wouldn't know us if we jumped out and said, 'Boo!'" Jessie remarks that Ash and his friends have "elevated cluelessness to an art form." This is a reference to the running gag that Ash and his friends never seem to be able to identify Team Rocket in their disguises.
- Music from Jirachi Wish Maker and Destiny Deoxys, as well as an instrumental of By Your Side ~Hikari's Theme~ and the Lilycove City theme, are used during this episode.
- This episode marks one of the few times Jessie's Wobbuffet has used Mirror Coat.
- Ash's Gliscor has been removed from the 'Up' ending shot of Which One ~ Is It?.
Errors
- On the official Pokémon website, the summary of this episode is incorrectly stated as "Can watching Zoey give Misty the inspiration she needs to win her next Contest?" when it should say Dawn instead of Misty.
- When Zoey sends out Leafeon and Kirlia, Dawn says, "You got a new Pokémon," when she really had two new additions to her roster.
