It lacks a neck, similarly to its baby form, Elekid, and has red eyes, a black spot on its forehead and the same antennae as Electabuzz. There is a pattern on Electivire's back that resembles an electric outlet that would accept a plug similar to the one on Elekid's head, and it has two black tails that each have a red tip. Electivire has black feet with three toes in the front.

Trivia
Voldon's Electivire Costume
- Electivire has the highest Attack and base stat total of all non-legendary Electric-type Pokémon.
- Electivire shares the same species name with Zebstrika. They are both known as Thunderbolt Pokémon.
- It is one of a few Pokémon whose species name in English is the same as the name of a move.
- Electivire, along with Magmortar, Gliscor, and Tangrowth, are the only Generation IV Pokémon that explicitly required the use of a Generation III game in order to be available until the release of Pokémon Platinum. In this case, both the Electirizer and Elekid are only available through dual-slot mode with Pokémon FireRed.
- This excludes the special Electivire available through Battle Revolution.
- An Electivire Costume is worn by Voldon in Pokémon Battle Revolution.
- Electivire was the only Generation IV Pokémon in the anime that debuted before the Diamond & Pearl series not to have debuted in a movie first.
- Electivire can learn Fire Punch, a move not of its type, in three different ways: as a starting move, by tutoring, and as an Egg move. It shares this trait with its counterpart, Magmortar, who learns ThunderPunch in this manner.
- Magmortar and Electivire's relation is reminiscent of that of Reshiram and Zekrom, since both are oppositions between fire and electricity.
Origin
Electivire was likely based on a gorilla due to it being two-legged and its hairy features. It may also be based on a Yeti, an ape-like cryptid that was said to inhabit the Himalaya Mountains. Unlike a gorilla, it can walk with its large bare-feet much like how an Electivire can. Its Motor Drive Ability is similar to an electric motor.
Name origin
Electivire is a combination of electric or electricity and wire (referring to its cord-like tails). It may also derive from live wire, a wire in which electric current flows.
Elekible may be a combination of electric or electricity and cable.
