In the Pokémon Adventures manga
A Schoolboy named Marvin (Japanese: マナブ Manabu) first appeared in the first round of the Sword & Shield arc. He recently moved to Galar and noted how Zigzagoon looked different compared to where he was from. Marvin notices a large Pangoro and goes to investigate but falls off a cliff in the process only to be rescued by a Trainer with a Sirfetch'd. He falls unconscious after being saved and later wakes up to a girl wearing a Ball Guy mask. He is immediately terrified and tries to run away to no avail. Marvin introduces himself to the girl and Professor Magnolia and then proceeds to explain what he saw prior to falling off the cliff. He later goes with the girl in an attempt to properly thank the Sirfetch'd Trainer for saving him. He is then forced into a Dynamax simulator.
