Strength Sap (Japanese: ちからをすいとる Strength Sap) is a non-damaging Grass-type move introduced in Generation VII. Prior to Generation VIII, it was the signature move of Morelull and Shiinotic.

Effect

Strength Sap lowers the target's Attack stat by one stage, and restores the user's HP by the same amount as the target's effective Attack stat before Strength Sap was used (taking any stat stages into account).

Strength Sap will try to lower the target's Attack stat even if the user of Strength Sap has full HP. However, Strength Sap will fail completely if the target already has -6 Attack stat stages. (Strength Sap will not fail if the target has +6 Attack stat stages and Contrary, or otherwise cannot have its Attack stat lowered, such as by being protected by Mist, or having Hyper Cutter).

If the user is holding a Big Root, Strength Sap recovers 30% more HP. If the target has the Ability Liquid Ooze, the user will lose the amount of HP it would have gained instead.

If powered up by a Grassium Z into Z-Strength Sap, the user's Defense stat rises one stage.
