Trivia

  • No other Pokémon have the same type combination as Tesshido and its evolved form.
  • No other Pokémon has the same egg group combination as Tesshido and its evolved form.
  • Tesshido is both the slowest Grass-type Pokémon and the slowest Steel-type Pokémon.
  • Despite being Grass-type, it cannot learn any damaging Grass-type moves by level up.
  • Tesshido can learn Metal Claw and Hone Claws despite having no visible hands.
    • Ironically, Tesshido cannot learn Rapid Spin, despite its battle animation showing it constantly spinning.

Origin

Tesshido may be based on durians or conkers, seeds from horse-chestnut trees, both of which are known for their tough skin and thorns. It may also be based on a mace or flail.

Name origin

Its name is likely a combination of 鉄 tetsu, iron, and シード shīdo, seed.
