Trivia
Origin
Helioptile is based on a lizard. It is likely based on a frill-necked lizard, a lizard that has a large frill around its neck and can also run on their hind legs when endangered.
Name origin
Helioptile is a combination of ἥλιος helios (Ancient Greek for sun), heliophile (organism attracted to large amounts of sunlight), and reptile.
Erikiteru may be a combination of elekiter, エリマキトカゲ erimaki tokage (frill-necked lizard), and 照る teru (to shine).
