Talk:Diancie (Pokémon)
Without a valid Source please do not add any questions or statements regarding the other two event legendaries, they will be added when they are officially confirmed by Nintendo or the Pokémon Company.--Ditto51/Tom (My Talk Page) 18:37, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
Userspace
Out of curiosity, is this meant to be part of your user talk, or the actual page for Diancie (Pokemon). Because the page for Diancie (Pokemon has no text on it.--BigBadBatter (talk) 23:15, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- Pages are occasionally developed in the userspace and moved to the mainspace later on, rather than making it directly in the mainspace. It should be moving to the mainspace soon though. --Pokemaster97 23:40, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying, I was pretty confused!--BigBadBatter (talk) 02:02, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Category
Just wondering, why is Diancie listed on this page, when it does not fit that category? --GoldenSandslash15 (talk) 04:57, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- It's because the BaseStat template on the page was empty, so the cat is added by default when that happens. Kai * the Arc Toraph 05:16, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- It's just because the base stats template has all 0's in it right now. The math that that template does interprets that (or rather, the SpAtk and SpDef parts) as "Special stat became both Special Attack and Special Defense". The template could be commented out for now (which got done), or we could just let it sit, as is, until we can put the right stats in there. Or someone could also just change the 0's to -1's. That'd still be recognizable as dummy data, and it wouldn't set the category.
- I would point out, ArcToraphim, that Zygarde has a TCG section that looks exactly like Diancie's did before you hid it (that's what I took it from in fact). I just think they should be treated the same (one way or the other). (Likewise the manga section...) Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:26, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Unknown Pokémon
Would Template:Unknown Pokémon be appropriate here? Miles (talk) 05:17, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
biology
wouldn't it be more accurate to say headdress instead of hair?Yamitora1 (talk) 02:09, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Since I was the one who added in the biology, I think headdress sounds better now that I think about it. Will change it if it's okay with everyone...or I would have, but it's protected. Berrenta (talk) 02:24, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
Ability
It was recently revealed in clearer CoroCoro scans that Diancie's ability is Clear Body. Could someone add this? --GoldenSandslash15 (talk) 05:12, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
Diancie and Carbink
Would it be worth mentioning in the Trivia section that Diancie shares several similarities with Carbink, including its type? Eskay64 (talk) 11:53, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Their shared species name should be put, but that's about it. Lots of Pokémon have the same type combinations and similar origins. Glik (talk) 13:43, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- It's not just that they have the same type combination, they're the only Pokémon to have it. Also, they have the same regular Ability (and similar stat distibution, though the exact numbers aren't known). I think they have so many similarities that they all are worth noting.--電禅Den Zen 14:08, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Not to mention the similar Japanese names: Melecie, Diancie. Too many similarities to ignore. - Taylor (talk) 14:12, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Shared species name? Maybe. Same type combination? No, even if they're the only ones to have it, they are not related. Base stats? No. We don't even know Diancie's base stats. Name? Leaning towards no. Origins? It could be mentioned in the origin section, but not as trivia.--ForceFire 14:24, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- I thought we axed comparison trivia a while ago. Just because two Pokemon are very similar doesn't mean we should have to note it. I agree with the shared species name, but we don't need to state the obvious IMO. --Pokemaster97 18:11, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Its a waste of time and resources to note every single thing two Pokémon or more share in common. Why does any of this have to be on this or Carbink's pages? If anything it would more fit in with the fannon page, even if I think its just a waste of productive resources IMO Yamitora1 (talk) 19:32, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
- Well, now there's an official link between the two, since one of Diancie's Pokédex entries calls Diancie "A sudden transformation of Carbink". - Blazios talk 15:15, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- This isn't the first time a Pokémon, even a legendary Pokémon, has spontaneously formed from a lesser Pokémon, life form or substance. Deoxys came from a simple virus that mutated when exposed to laser radiation. Grimer came about from a sudden mutation of industrial pollutants, same as Muk IIRC. Garbador and it's line are also a similar case. Doduo was discovered as a sudden mutation from a never revealed previous Pokémon. Koffing is another example, in the Y Pokédex (and probably a dex from a previous gen) states "Very rarely, a sudden mutation can result in two small Koffing twins becoming conjoined as a Weezing." Bagon wanted to fly, and a spontaneous change in its cells gave it that wish. Shedinja appears out of the blue when a Nincada evolves into a Ninjask. The genetic disaster known as Eevee is the poster child for sudden mutations. Heck, its not even Pokémon anymore, but also even the berries in the games can now suddenly produce mutations. And its believed all Pokémon outside of Arceus and the trios it created come from Mew.
- Over time Pokémon don't just evolve into a new stage, but they also evolve in a Darwin-like fashion. Their genes become stronger or weaker, they begin to take on new shapes and even coloration. But going back to the Doduo thing, we never mention the Pokémon it mutated from, and treat it as a whole new Pokémon altogether without having "evolved" from the previous Pokémon, which like I said has never been revealed. Also touching back onto the Shedinja thing as well, it too is not 100% considered to be a evolution of Nincada, and is also treated as its own Pokémon for most intents and purposes.
- Unfortunately its still too early to really say much about this new development. Since little info is around, we don't want to make ourselves look foolish by latching onto the smallest bit of info and make a mountain out of an anthill sort-of-speak. For all we know right now, it might turn out that Carbink/Diancie is a Zooid similar to the Portuguese Man o' war. So until more information is released, we have to remain diligent in preventing speculation and spreading misinformation. Yamitora1 (talk) 18:19, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
So I have a question, are Diancie and Carbink not releated according to a Pokémon fan website? --Cinday123 (Talk) 23:21, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- They are related according to a Pokédex entry, but so far nothing more. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 23:23,2/14/2014 (UTC)
- We don't know at the moment. Information is only just coming out. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 23:27,2/14/2014 (UTC)
- More or less you can think of their relationship this way. They are related in a similar manner that Plusle and Minun or Sawk and Throh are related. Its clear they share a distinct relationship to one another, but the origin of how each one came to be different from the other has yet to be revealed.
- To put a real world spin on it, think about how the domesticated dog, in all its breeds are all related to and have ancestry with the Wolf. A wolf and a beagle are clearly thought and classified as separate animals, but the beagle still derives form the wolf regardless of this.
Plus, Diance was discovered by a hacker.

Base Stats
According to http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pokemon-diancie-legendary-character-arrive-pokemon-x-y-113013968.html#G3DXfZk Dianice's base stats are Her base stats: HP 60, Attack 75, Defense 175, Special Attack 75, Special Defense 175, Speed 50, total 610.
I'm not sure how reliable this is, but I thought I would bring it up. If this is true, we know that Dianice is not this Gen's "Mew". Yamitora1 (talk) 19:57, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

Signature move
Being a hacker myself I have found that it's signature move is Diamond Storm, rock type move it has 100 power and 95 acc and is like skull bash, it charges up and razes defense and next turn attacks. Superbobbobbob3 (talk) 16:02, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

- First of all, that isn't true at all, Superbobbobbob3. We've already known from an actual photograph from the same hacker who discovered Diancie (Smealum) - and is therefore far more reliable - that Diancie has a signature move called Diamond Storm, and we've already known its type, power, and accuracy. We also know that it is NOT like Skull Bash, but a single-turn move that merely has a chance of raising defense when completed. Please don't take credit for Smealum's discovery, even if you did change it to the point of being false. EpicDeino (talk) 16:17, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not taking credit for his discovery (as I only looked into Diancie because of him), I'm giving you the info that I know from hacking in my game, I didn't know that it was a one turn move because my game freezes when it uses it, plus the move info sounds like it's like skull bash or a nother charge move (and if you are wrong I am going to be all told you so) it says quote "the user WHIPS UP a storm of diamonds to damage the opposing pokemon, this may also raise the users defense stat" whip up sounds a lot like razer wind and how it charges.Superbobbobbob3 (talk) 20:46, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- Just to inform you, every move that take two turns to execute (Solar Beam, Razor Wind, Geomancy, Skull Bash, etc) all note more that one turn is involved in their descriptions. What's been circulating about Diamond Storm makes no indication of that. Kai * the Arc Toraph 20:58, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- Having obtained Diancie in my own Pokémon Y, I can confirm what EpicDeino has stated to be true regarding Diamond Storm. It does not need a turn to charge up, Superbobbobbob3. :) I believe the description is merely an aesthetic wording, as the attack animation does whip up diamonds in a whirlwind before sending them toward the opponent.Toonie (talk) 00:56, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

Base HP
Diancie's HP at level 50 is 125 as shown in a screenshot at Pokemon.com. This is the same as Carbink at level 50 with 31 IVs in HP and no EVs. Diancie's base HP is 50, the same as Carbink. This is also further supported by leaks. TorchicBlaziken (talk•edits) 18:58, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
It is possible that it could be higher or lower. We don't know the IVs and/or EVs of the Diancie in the screenshots. --The Truth aka Relicant 19:02, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
Regarding Diancie and the other two leaked Pokemon
A while back when the Gen IV and V games first launched, we had articles of Pokemon like Arceus and Genesect well before official sources revealed them or gave them artwork. So why with Gen VI we're being forced to wait for official sources to reveal these event legendaries before we start articles on them? Superjustinbros. (talk) 19:15, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- At the first leak of the three legends, we only had one source that said for certain that these three (Diancie, Volcanion, Hoopa), are in the game's data. This one single hacker was the only first hand source, as every other site that had them claiming to exist sourced him. Anyone in a journalism field will tell you that one source is not enough, and this (at least in my opinion) should apply to Wikis as well. So at the current moment, while we do have official confirmation from CoroCoro that Diancie exists, we still only have one first hand source saying that the other two do. Granted, we will most likely hear from official sources sooner or later, but for now, it's staying as is. Just to not flood yet another talk page with this, the full discussion from before Diancie was revealed on this topic can be read here. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 19:26,2/14/2014 (UTC)
