Pokémon world locations |
Malie Garden (Japanese: マリエ庭園 Malie Garden) is a location on Ula'ula Island in Alola, located in Malie City.
Geography
Malie Garden, like the rest of Malie City, was designed by people who moved to Alola from Johto. As such, it sports a very Johto-like outlook, with a tower similar to the Bell Tower in Ecruteak City standing at one of its corners. To serve the many tourists visiting the garden, a tea shop is located in the middle of it. The use of Ride Pokémon (excluding Charizard) is prohibited within the garden walls.
The player first visits Malie Garden with Hau after their trip to Aether Paradise to meet up with Professor Kukui and tell him about their recent Ultra Beast encounter. After completing the trial on Mount Hokulani, the player will return to the garden to have their first encounter and battle against the leader of Team Skull, Guzma.
After the player defeats Guzma, the bridge at the front of the garden becomes populated by five Trainers and their leader, mimicking the Nugget Bridge from Kanto in both dialogue and team structure, despite many of the Trainers' Pokémon not being native to Alola. If the player defeats all five Trainers, they will receive a Big Nugget from Veteran Don at the end, before battling him as well. After he is defeated, he and the other Trainers on the bridge leave.

Trivia
- The teams used by the Nugget Bridge Trainers are the exact same ones as those used by the original Nugget Bridge Trainers in Pokémon Red and Blue, rather than their remakes.
- According to the girl who gives the player an Air Balloon, the lake inside Malie Garden is designed after a Gyarados.
