A Schoolboy (Japanese: スクールボーイ Schoolboy) is a type of Pokémon Trainer introduced in Generation VI. In Kalos, they are depicted as young boys dressed in school uniforms who carry a backpack around with them. They could be considered elder versions of the Schoolkid class. In Galar, they are notably younger and dress up more casually.

Marvin, a Schoolboy in Pokémon Adventures

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

A Schoolboy named Marvin (Japanese: マナブ Manabu) first appeared in the first round of the Sword & Shield arc. He had recently moved to Galar and noted how different the local Zigzagoon looked compared to where he was from. He was surprised by a giant Pangoro and wandered into a campsite, where he encountered Sōdo Tsurugi, Shirudomiria Tate, and Professor Magnolia, learning that the giant Pangoro had just been a simulation used by Shirudomiria to research Dynamax.

Wanting to teach Marvin about what Dynamaxing is, Sōdo and Shirudomiria allowed the boy to participate in another simulation. Sōdo lent his Sirfetch'd to use since Marvin had no Pokémon of his own. Together, the trio fought the Dynamax Pangoro hologram, eventually defeating it. Having experienced a Pokémon battle for the first time, Marvin gained the confidence to set out on his own Pokémon journey. After asking and receiving approval from his parents, Marvin joined Sōdo and others on their quest to study Dynamax.
