Trivia
Origin
It appears to be based on mushroom — specifically a wood-ear mushroom, also known as a "tree jellyfish" (fitting with its similarities to Tentacruel, which is based on an actual jellyfish). The fact that it physically resembles Tentacruel may be a reference to convergent evolution or parallel evolution, which can lead to separate organisms independently developing similar or identical characteristics and body plans.
Name origin
Toedscruel may derive from toadstool (another name for mushroom), toe (or toed, meaning "having toes") and Tentacruel.
