The Chilling Reign Build & Battle Box was a special product sold by retailers in the Play! Pokémon Prerelease Program. These retailers were permitted to sell boxes from June 5, 2021 ahead of the release of the Chilling Reign expansion on June 18. Each Build & Battle Box included a 23-card Evolution pack that featured one of four specially stamped Prerelease cards: Cinderace, Inteleon, Cresselia, or Passimian. Each card accompanied a group of Pokémon cards that focused on the following types respectively:

. Boxes were also packaged with four Chilling Reign booster packs.
Build & Battle Boxes could include exclusive Non Holofoil versions of Holofoil cards from the Chilling Reign expansion: Cinderace, Inteleon, and Gardevoir. They could also provide a re-release of Non Holofoil Sword & Shield Professor's Research originally from the Sword & Shield Build & Battle Box.
Box structure
Section 1
Each box included two of the following four different groups of Pokémon cards, with one group always coinciding with the Prerelease promo.
Section 2
Each box also included four random Supporter cards from the following (five if either the Inteleon or Passimian group was enclosed; six if both were enclosed), with no more than two copies of a particular card.
