The Brilliant Stars Build & Battle Box was a special product given to participants at the start of Prerelease Tournaments for the Brilliant Stars expansion. Each box contained a random selection of predetermined cards designed to enhance the experience of the Limited format events in which they were initially distributed. Unofficial Prereleases were typically held on the weekends of February 12-13 and 19-20, 2022; select stores were permitted to sell the boxes starting February 12. Two boxes were also included in each copy of the Brilliant Stars Build & Battle Stadium, which was released on March 11, 2022.
Build & Battle Boxes were updated beginning with this expansion—17 basic Energy cards were added to the previous 23-card Evolution pack, resulting in a ready-to-play 40-card deck. Although players could begin using the deck straight away, they were encouraged to modify the deck using cards from the four packaged Brilliant Stars booster packs. Each box also came with a deck-building tip sheet, and a Pokémon TCG Live code card. Decks included one of four specially stamped Prerelease cards for the expansion: Moltres, Lucario, Liepard, and Bibarel.
Boxes could also provide exclusive Non Holofoil versions of cards only available as Holofoil in Brilliant Stars booster packs: Torterra, Moltres, Infernape, Lucario, Bibarel, and Professor's Research.
Box structure
Section 1
Each box included two of the following four different groups of Pokémon cards, with one group always coinciding with the Prerelease promo.
Section 2
Each box also included six random Supporter cards from the following, with no more than two copies of a particular card.
