Two Hues (Japanese: 二藍 Indigo) is the third and final episode of Pokémon: Hisuian Snow. It was first released on the official Japanese Pokémon YouTube channel, the official English Pokémon YouTube channel, and Pokémon TV on June 22, 2022.
Blurb
While remembering his time with Hisuian Zorua, the older Alec finally arrives in the Hisui region. But the question remains: what became of their friendship?
Plot
Having arrived in Jubilife Village, Alec is guided to his father's workshop by the local children. The two have a stern reunion as Alec's father asks why his son has returned. Alec expresses his wish to look for medicinal herbs in the Alabaster Icelands, and his father expresses his disapproval of Alec's ambition to be a doctor.
At the top of the village gates, Alec meets Cyllene as they observe a space-time distortion. Cyllene explains that they have no idea what the phenomena is, save for the fact that more distortions have been appearing. Spotting an injured Rufflet flying from the distortion towards the village, Alec rushes out to help, but is stunned to see the other adults refusing to step out of the village to assist. Despite the pleas of the children, the adults close the village gates behind Alec.
The scene cuts to the town hall, where Alec pleads with the elders to let him outside, declaring that there may be other injured Pokémon out there. The elders unanimously refuse, stating they have no reason to help wild Pokémon since the villagers can't even enter the local forest due to their presence. To the elders' surprise, Cyllene agrees to send out an expedition with Alec, deciding that the space-time distortion must be investigated before the village is put in danger. At his workshop, Alec's father questions his son why he cares about Pokémon. Recalling his experiences with Zorua, Alec admits that he wishes to learn more about them. Despite his misgivings, Alec's father gives his son a new pair of sandals for walking in the snow, indicating his decision to accompany Alec.
As the expedition leaves the village for the distortion, Alec picks up a Medicinal Leek along the way before the team enters the distortion's boundary. The group encounters a pair of agitated Abomasnow standing guard over a pair of injured Snover. Despite Cyllene's orders, Alec rushes forward and offers to help, showing the Abomasnow the leek he retrieved. After briefly convening, the Abomasnow lunge forward as if to attack, but instead of striking Alec they strike an Alpha Garchomp before it can attack the group, allowing Alec and Cyllene to pull the Snover to safety. Alec manages to bandage the Snover and declares that they have to evacuate. Cyllene notes that they don't have the equipment to bring Snover back to the village, but also refuses to leave Alec and the Snover behind. As the Abomasnow and Garchomp fight to a violent standstill, Alec's father shows up with a hand-pulled sled.
The group manages to load Snover onto the sled and pull them out of the distortion, only to be cornered by the Alpha Garchomp. Before Garchomp can attack Alec, it is stopped short by the sight of a violent purple blaze, which scares it into fleeing. A looming figure walks back into the forest, and Alec passes out from the experience. When he wakes up, he finds that the space-time distortion has cleared and everyone is still intact and healthy, including his father. Realizing what happened, Alec chases the figure back into the forest, only to find the mask he'd lost as a child on a broken tree stump. Behind him, Cyllene wonders what happened; Alec responds that they were helped by a friend of his.
Back at the village, Alec and Pesselle work to treat the Snover, Rufflet and a Munchlax. Alec's father admits that while he still doesn't understand Alec's need to concern himself with Pokémon, he now acknowledges that people and Pokémon may be able to coexist in peace. Seeing Alec off at the docks, Alec's father hands him a gift, asking Alec to visit more often. As the ship pulls away from the coast, Alec holds his father's gift in his hands: a new Zoroark mask in its Shiny coloration. Inspired, Alec puts on the mask and lets out a howl in remembrance of his childhood friend.
