The Opened Wormhole (Japanese: 開かれたウルトラホール The Opened Ultra Hole) is the 10th chapter of the Pokémon Horizon manga.

Synopsis

Meja is in disbelief that, in trying to open an Ultra Wormhole to Solgaleo, two Ultra Wormholes have opened. Solgaleo appears through the first one but another Legendary Pokémon Lunala appears through the second, to the shock of Akira and Mana, though Tokio continues to grin.

With both Legendary Pokémon now fully revealed, Akira feels their intense power. Meja does not understand why Lunala has appeared too when he only summoned Solgaleo, and Mana explains that Lunala is an emissary of the Moon, the opposite of Solgaleo, who is an emissary of the Sun–they are counterparts to each other, representing the Moon and Sun respectively.

Tokio then pushes a button on a small device he is holding, and snake-like arms appear from the receptor machine which quickly capture and contain Solgaleo. Meja says that the machine should not have this function, and that he still doesn't understand why both Solgaleo and Lunala appeared. Tokio then reveals he made modifications to the machine in order to summon Lunala as well as Solgaleo. With Lunala summoned, who is the darkness counterpart to Solgaleo, Solgaleo's power would be suppressed.

Angry at what his son has done, Meja sends in Incineroar to attack Tokio, but Tokio throws a Poké Ball in response, sending in Silvally, Type: Null's evolution. The newly-evolved Silvally uses Tri Attack, defeating Incineroar and sending it flying into Meja, who is knocked down too.

The group have defeated Meja, and Akira and Mana shout that they have thwarted the evil ambitions of Team Kings. Akira collects Rockruff from the receptor and Mana congratulates Tokio on his plan working. Tokio does not respond, and Rockruff growls at him, then evolves into Lycanroc. Akira does not understand what is troubling Lycanroc, who continues to growl. Tokio says that this is the end of his father's ambitions, but also the end of the world.

Lunala begins to absorb all of the light surrounding them, turning the sky dark. Tokio encourages the Legendary Pokémon, and Akira questions why. With a crazed expression, Tokio says that it is his own plan to plunge the world into darkness.

Akira and Mana question why he would do this given his huge talent as a Trainer. Tokio explains that his father envied his gift as a Trainer and that he would be valuable as a Team Kings member. He recounts being locked in a room many times with Pokémon and that he was not allowed out until he could command that Pokémon. This continued for months, despite his pleas that he wanted to see his mother. But his father Meja was unrelenting, saying that Tokio must hone his skills so that he could become a full member of Team Kings, and help their family become royalty once again.

Some of the Pokémon Tokio was locked in the room with, in one case an Eevee, were sympathetic to him, but he rejected this. He had decided to live in the room in darkness. Mana feels sorry for Tokio, but Tokio adds that now the whole world would join him in darkness.

Lycanroc charges forward. Akira agrees with it that Tokio's plan must be stopped, and that Lycanroc has been fighting for peace since the ancient times. Tokio acknowledges that Akira and Lycanroc are now fighting as one together, but that Lycanroc has hardly any strength left. Akira suspects that their only chance would be if they can somehow use the Z-Move.

The weakened Lycanroc's assault is repelled by the claws of Silvally. Mana pleads for Akira and Lycanroc to stop, and reluctantly Akira agrees, and throws his Poké Ball to withdraw the visibly hurt Pokémon, shouting that it is no match for them right now. But Lycanroc snarls defiantly–to which Mana says that it cannot hear Akira's command to come back–and it swats away the Poké Ball.

Tokio can't understand why Akira would want to stop Lycanroc fighting at full power, but running towards his Pokémon, Akira says it is not its true full power and attempts to restrain Lycanroc from continuing. Lycanroc strikes away Akira, knocking him to the floor, and Tokio taunts the Trainer as pitiful since his Pokémon won't obey him. Undeterred, Akira puts himself between Lycanroc and Silvally and tries again to get Lycanroc to listen.

Tokio says that Lycanroc has never card about Akira and doesn't want him as a partner. Akira reveals that he thought that Lycanroc was helping him, but has realised that it is he who is helping Lycanroc. He tries to awaken Lycanroc from its anger, saying he respects its choice to keep fighting, but has to stop it because it has lost control of its emotions. Tokyo laughs that Akira's voice will never be heard by Lycanroc, and Mana pleads with Lycanroc to stop.

Akira braces as Lycanroc run towards him with its teeth bared. Akira is knocked to the ground, but to everyone's surprise, Lycanroc begins licking Akira, and is visibly calm. Mana says that Lycanroc has come to its senses, and Akira smiles. Tokio is dumbfounded, but Mana explains that it was Rockruff who brought Akira to the island and knew that it needed Akira's help to fight at full power, and needed his help to calm itself if it lost control.

Akira and Lycanroc smile at each other with mutual understanding, and turn their attention to Tokio, saying they'll show him what it's like to really fight at full power. But Lycanroc roars and begins to change form again, to the shock of the group.

Tokio reflects that he was once in control of his world, but then Akira and Rockruff showed up and disrupted it, and they are doing so again, by making the impossible possible.
