This is a list of Pokémon by their color (Japanese: (いろ) color) according to the Pokédex. In Generation III, it is also referred to as body color (Japanese: (からだ)(いろ) body color); in Pokémon HOME, it is also described as a Pokémon's main color in English. While the actual colors of individual Pokémon can vary, the color associated with a species is usually the color most apparent or covering the Pokémon's body. Some species are categorized on the basis of the color of their heads or faces, such as Druddigon, which is categorized as red despite being mostly blue. Prior to Generation VII, Pokémon species with multiple forms, such as Wormadam and Shellos, were categorized based on their primary form's color.

Color is available as a search method in the Pokédex in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, the Generation V and VI games, Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Bank, and HOME, and in the Strategy Memo in Pokémon Colosseum. It can also be seen in the Pokémon Storage System in the Generation IV and V games and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. It is no longer visible in-game starting in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, although it remains in the Pokémon species data structure. A Pokémon's color only has an aesthetic effect, with the exception of the Festive Feud Wi-Fi tournament, where only red, white, or green Pokémon could compete.

List of colors

The games divide Pokémon into the following ten categories based on their color. For each color, its index number, name, and the specific shades used to represent it in various games are displayed in the table below:

# Name  D  P  Pt   HG  SS   B  W  B2  W2   HOME   BD  SP
0 Red
1 Blue
2 Yellow
3 Green
4 Black
5 Brown
6 Purple
7 Gray
8 White
9 Pink

These categories do not correspond directly to any particular color model or color wheel, and instead reflect basic color terms in Japanese. Although it is a basic color term in English, no orange category exists; Pokémon that may be considered to be primarily orange are instead listed under the red, yellow, or brown categories.

Several Pokémon are placed in categories that hold little resemblance to their perceived color, or which would be more logically placed in a different category. Some examples are Bronzor and Golett, which are categorized as green even though they may be considered more blue than green; this particular case may be attributable to the ambiguity between "green" and "blue" in Japanese.
