Team Plasma Is Here!
The first section explains the introduction of Team Plasma cards featured within the Plasma Storm expansion, detailing their signature blue borders and Team Plasma emblem behind the text of the cards.
Top 10 Black & White—Plasma Storm cards
The second section goes through ten of the most useful cards included within the expansion.
1. Articuno-EX
Articuno-EX is a Bench-clearing terror, able to deliver 10 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon and 60 to the Defending Pokémon! Better still, its Frost Prison attack improves when Plasma Energy is attached to it, ensuring that the Defending Pokémon is Paralyzed and giving Articuno-EX a huge advantage in battle!
2. Magnezone
Sometimes one brain is not enough: that's why Magnezone has Dual Brains! This awesome Ability lets you play two Supporter cards on your turn. Expect to see this Pokémon being played at the City and Regional Championships!
3. Klinklang
If you are tired of seeing too many Pokémon-EX on your opponent's side of the table, Klinklang is just the ticket! Its Plasma Steel Ability prevents all damage done to your Pokémon by the attacks of opposing Pokémon-EX—and there's no downside!
4. Black Kyurem-EX and White Kyurem-EX
Pokémon-EX are always among the biggest hitters in any set, and in the Plasma Storm expansion they don't disappoint! With 180 HP each, they are in the high range of HP for Pokémon-EX. And that's not all—their attacks are devastating. Both have the Slash attack that does 60 damage for .
Black Kyurem-EX can also use the stunning Black Ballista attack, which does 200 damage for —though it is balanced out by the need to discard 3 Energy. By contrast, White Kyurem-EX has the White Inferno attack, which does 100 damage for —plus 10 more for every damage counter on White Kyurem-EX. And you don't have to discard that Energy!
5. Lugia-EX
Lugia-EX's Overflow Ability can be a real game-winner. If damage from Lugia-EX's attack Knocks Out your opponent's Pokémon, you take an extra Prize card! The tough part is that Lugia-EX's attack costs , and you need to be able to discard a Plasma Energy as well, or the attack does nothing. It's a tough combo, but if it works, you might be off to Victory Road—especially if you Knock Out a Pokémon-EX, as you'll take 3 Prize cards!
6. Colress
Nothing is cooler than a smart scientist who knows how to battle, and Colress qualifies! Shuffle your hand into your deck and draw cards equal to the number of all the Benched Pokémon in the game: yours and your opponent's! That's up to 10 cards, making Colress a keeper!
7. Hypnotoxic Laser
Poison your opponent's Active Pokémon, and for good measure, make it sleep with a successful coin flip! The power of the Hypnotoxic Laser must not be underestimated!
8. Plasma Energy
It's a little strange when you first see it, but this is a great card with a distinct difference from Colorless Energy. Plasma Energy produces , but combine it with Articuno-EX or Lugia-EX, and you'll see its true potential. It helps Articuno-EX generate attacks that Paralyze the Defending Pokémon, and it's essential if Lugia-EX is to use its devastating Plasma Gale attack. Additionally, you don't have to rely on luck to find Plasma Energy: if you play Colress Machine, you can search your deck for a Plasma Energy and attach it to one of your Team Plasma Pokémon—and that doesn't count for your normal Energy attachment for the turn!
9. Dowsing Machine
This ACE SPEC card is used for a simple but very effective trade—discard 2 cards from your hand and grab any Trainer card you like from the discard pile. That can be a wonderful gift late in the game, or it can speed up your early game, either way, this is a machine you want in your deck!
10. Victini-EX plus Victory Piece
These two just go together. If the Victory Piece ACE SPEC card is attached to Victini-EX, you won't need any Energy to attack! If you are lucky enough to draw both of them in your opening hand, you can use the Intensifying Burn attack on turn one for 50 damage—plus 50 more if the Defending Pokémon is a Pokémon-EX!
