Location | Zirco Trading |
Zirco's Holowear (Japanese: ジルのホロウェア Zir's Holowear) is the second chapter of Pokémon UNITE Manga - Come On Over to Aeos Island!. It was released on May 13, 2022 in Asia and on May 17, 2022 internationally.
Plot
Zirco invited Erbie to his store, Zirco Trading. He proposes that Unite Battles are missing a core element: "pizzazz". Other regions have activities where Pokémon get to dress up and look fashionable, and therefore Unite Battles should offer the same opportunity. Erbie strongly opposes such an addition. According to him, Unite Battles are purely about competition, and accessorizing would interfere with that goal.
Zirco has a counterargument. He asks Erbie to touch his Sableye, who is wearing a Ultra Ball themed hoodie like Zirco. Erbie does so, and is surprised when his hand passes directly through the hoodie. Zirco reveals that Sabeleye is wearing Holowear, holographic clothing of his creation. Holowear only affects the appearance of a Pokémon, so there are no issues regarding fairness. Zirco expects Holowear to be a huge hit.
Erbie is not certain about Holowear, and thinks it would be best to contact Professor Phorus for further consideration. Just then, two Trainers walk into Zirco Trading. Zirco immediately pulls up a screen showing his stock of Holowear, and the Trainers start browsing. Erbie is caught off-guard and begins to take issue, only for Zirco to cut him off. With a mischievous grin, Zirco explains that all he's doing is taking preorders, and that everyone is clearly enjoying the product. Erbie decides to leave the store instead of pushing the issue.

Trivia
- On Zirco's screen, the icons for the Holowear are silhouetted versions of the menu icons for the items in the game, complete with colors that match the Pokémon's role. Five of them are fully visible, and three can be identified by the art. They are as follows:
- When talking about other regions having activities with "pizzazz", Zirco names Pokémon Contests, Pokémon Musicals, and Pokéstar Studios. The panel visually references Pokémon in all such activities, complete with Props for the Musical reference.
- Of the featured Pokémon, Future Being Ledian is the only one that is not actually a Pokémon wearing clothes. While the Timegate Traveler series of movies shows it as a Ledian with a spear, in reality the character is being portrayed by a Suit Actor named Cristina. Visual effects are used to have her appear as a Ledian on camera. It is possible that Zirco is unaware of this.
