Hau's Primarina (Japanese: ハウのアシレーヌ Hau's Ashirene) is a Pokémon that Hau owns in the Pokémon Adventures manga and games.
In the manga
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Primarina first appeared as a Popplio in The Delivery of Rotom and the Girl, with Professor Kukui and Rowlet outside of the laboratory, where the two Pokémon were testing out their moves. Popplio then traped Kukui and Rowlet in its bubble balloons so Kukui could experience the power of the move himself. The bubbles are quickly broken by Moon.
Sometime after this, Kukui gave Popplio to Hau. In A Photoshoot and the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart, Popplio appeared with Hau at the Melemele Island Trainers' School, where Hau asked Ilima if they could help meet with Team Skull at Po Town, as he wanted to start training the Sea Lion Pokémon. Thinking that the talk with Team Skull would go better with them there, Ilima agreeed to let them come with him. When Hau and the Trial Captains confronted Team Skull and the Ultra Beasts, Popplio was easily defeated alongside the rest of the Trial Captain's Pokémon.
During the six months of Sun and Moon's disappearance into an Ultra Wormhole, Hau trained Popplio all across Alola so they could help defend the region from the Ultra Beasts. During their training, Popplio evolved into Brionne, and Hau obtained a Z-Ring and Primarium Z. In Prior to Shock!! Father in the Pendant!, after Necrozma entered Alola, Brionne is seen with Hau on Exeggutor Island, where Hau asked Hala to help him train further.
In Destroy!! Results of the Training!, while training with Hau in the Resolution Cave, Brionne battleed Hala's Bewear and defeated it with a Bubble Beam. Immediately after, Brionne evolved into Primarina. Hau credited its evolution to Hala's training, but the island kahuna told Hau it was due to how well he raised the Soloist Pokémon. Soon after, Hau and Hala witnessed Tapu Fini battling a Buzzwole. Hau and Primarina quickly jumped in to back up the Land Spirit Pokémon.
Personality and characteristics
Primarina is a very friendly and happy Pokémon, and is often seen smiling with its Trainer. It is able to trap opponents inside of its bubble balloons. Like its Trainer, Primarina has a strong desire to help others and has trained extensively to get stronger for that purpose. It has a close bond with Hau and is often seen at his side.
