Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Sui!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Sui/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! ----PAK Man Talk 07:22, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Please

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. There are only three userspace edits allowed per day, and you have gone over the limit. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making multiple small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page? Thank you. --MoldyOrange 16:37, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Tai Chi template

Per the our Usertag policy, you cannot make a Usertag unless it has meet the criteria listed on the page. But it has been moved to your UserSpace in the meantime. --☆Coolピカチュウ! 23:10, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi

I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. You may not be aware of this, but Bulbapedia has a Userspace policy that asks users to try and minimize the number of userspace edits they make in a short period of time. Instead of making multiple edits, why not use the Preview button (Alt + Shift + P) located right next to the edit button to look at your page and see how it is coming? That way, your page can look great while staying within the required amount of edits. Instead of editing the userspace, as a wiki, we encourage users to edit the mainspace. So, if you edit the mainspace more often, you will be allowed to edit the userspace more. Thanks! --tc²₆tc26 06:46, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Question

Got AIM? MaverickNate 03:30, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Nope, I have windows live messenger SuiTopaz 03:33, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Awww. okay. AIM is goooood though. MaverickNate 03:36, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Haha I'm sure it is, but there isn't much of a market for it here in New Zealand SuiTopaz 03:39, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
I have it. So do other people I know. Come on... you know you want to. —darklordtrom 03:41, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
I'll see what I can do... SuiTopaz 03:48, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I got it. My names suiscorpio. SuiTopaz 04:46, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Stop.

Do not edit the User: namespace any more. In the past, we were not allowed to edit our pages at all because of users over-editing their pages. If you edit your page any more without making some edits to the mainspace, then the privilege for you to edit the userspace will be removed. This has been your final warning. ---- MAGNEDETH 01:22, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

I only made one change, fixing a broken link, my first edit to my namespace in a long while. As well as uploading a new Jewel of life image. SuiScorpio 01:26, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
I think he's more concerned about the fact that you've basically only ever edited your userpage and not how many times you edited in one day. ZestyCactus 01:30, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
in your entire time here at the site youve only made 2 mainspace edits total. and they were over a year ago! and they were both reverted! youve done some stuff on the archives sure, but even then youve still edited your userspace way too much. -- MAGNEDETH 01:31, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
So http://archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Special:Contributions/SuiScorpio doesn't count for stuff here? Not meaning to sound rude, genuine question. Or is that not enough for the amount of time I've been on here? Sorry, just trying to understand SuiScorpio 01:36, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
in most cases, it doesnt count. but even if it did, its not enough. your ratio is roughly 3 archives to 1 userspace. we want our users to obviously edit the mainspace much more, something closer to about 10/1, more ideally, 20/1. -- MAGNEDETH 01:39, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Delinking an image is one of the allowed reasons to edit the userspace. MaverickNate 01:40, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
well as i said, the ratio is still way off, and id like to see more effort on the mainspace or Archives before you make more userspace edits. -- MAGNEDETH 01:42, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
ok then, when I make 210 (or more ideally, 420) worthy edits i'll edit my namespace again. deal? SuiScorpio 01:48, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
sounds fine. if you make a bunch of edits on Archives ill allow that too. -- MAGNEDETH 01:56, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Oh darn

Stuffed one of the two rules, sorry. SuiScorpio 00:42, 15 April 2011 (UTC)

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! --Masatoshitalk 08:14, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Excadrill

That's just bad lighting, not a deliberate change. The video quality is to be blamed for that. It was a very low-quality version of the video, recorded from God-knows-where by some fan. Look, Haxorus's colors are too bright too! And the clean video on the official website had all correct colors. You're really trying too hard. --Maxim 14:22, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

It's a fair point. I figured if it was considered relevant enough to have on the Pokémon Black and White beta page then it should be on the 'unreleased and altered' page as well. I've taken it to the discussion page. haha you make it sound like that's a bad thing. SuiScorpio 20:38, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Trivia

Please follow the note at the top of every page. Particularly Note #1: "Do not add any trivia". We already have enough as it is.. In the meantime, contribute to something other than trivial information. Han Ji-Wan 00:40, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

"It's fine as long as it's useful..."SuiScorpio 04:09, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
Well that was very kind of you.. Seriously, I'm only following the rules, not offending you. Han Ji-Wan 04:21, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
Just making sure you saw :) SuiScorpio 11:53, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Categorizing

Remember to check that every new article you make has at least one category. For example, merchandise pages should have [[Category:Merchandise]] below the project template.--Den Zen 14:49, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks I'll remember that SuiScorpio 01:07, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Article titles

Hey, long time no see :) Just a reminder that article titles generally shouldn't be written in Camel Case; we generally prefer for just the first word to be capitalized (except for proper nouns, etc.). —darklordtrom 01:02, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Hey hey, yessir duly noted :) SuiScorpio 01:08, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Trademarks

All of those trademarks that you have used on articles (e.g. THINKChip Interactive System and Bean-filled plush figures) are rather unnecessary. As a wiki specifically about Pokémon, the vast majority of terms will be trademarked and really don't need to be specifically marked as such. It also gets rather excessive, and messy when next to every word on a page is followed by a ™ marker. Anyway, please don't use all those ™s anymore. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:23, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi there, I am aware that the use of the trademark sign is unnecessary when citing Pokémon names etc., but as they are a part of the official title of these products I thought it would be appropriate to include them, you don't agree?SuiScorpio 07:27, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
No, I don't agree. As I said before, the vast majority of terms will be trademarked. We don't have ™s every time when we mention Pokémon Black and White, despite those being trademarked product names, no? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:33, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
I wasn't including the TM symbol because those names were trademarked (even though they are) I was including them because they were a part of the official name of that product. For example if you look at a:File:BFP1 Jigglypuff.jpg, the official title of this product is #39 JigglypuffTM SuiScorpio 07:44, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
The ™ is there on the product's tag because the name Jigglypuff is a trademark not owned by the creator of that product, but by The Pokémon Company. That doesn't make the product's title "#39 Jigglypuff™" otherwise, Pokémon would be officially "Pokémon™" as well. Also, please see our policy page regarding copyrights. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:50, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh yup, that makes sense, thanks for making sure we get that right :) SuiScorpio 07:52, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Stub template

Just a reminder that the stub template goes at the bottom of the page. Also, you don't need to specify "Template:" when transcluding a template. --SnorlaxMonster 05:44, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Good to know, cheers. Also what's the defference between stub and incomplete? SuiScorpio 05:48, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Stub means that the whole article in short and lacking information. Incomplete should really only be called with the "needs=" parameter set to specify exactly what is missing. --SnorlaxMonster 05:49, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Scholastic

I really think it would have been better to have kept the link to Scholastic, even if if was done via [[Image:Scholastic logo.png|164px|link=Scholastic]]. --SnorlaxMonster 10:33, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Deleted GIFs on your user page

Just to let you know that half the images on your user page appear broken because they are GIFs that have been replaced by PNGs on the Archives and thus deleted. Can you fix them please? --Marshtompert (talk) 16:27, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
