Pokémon TV was a free video service provided by The Pokémon Company International that provides select episodes of the Pokémon anime to viewers. It was first accessible to users in November 2010. It could be viewed through the internet with a web browser, by downloading the free "Pokémon TV" app on the App Store for iOS and iPadOS (with Chromecast support), on the App Store for tvOS (Apple TV 4th generation), on Google Play for Android (with Chromecast support), on the Amazon Appstore for the Amazon Fire TV, on the Roku Channel Store for Roku devices, and on the Nintendo Switch Nintendo eShop.

Beginning January 8, 2024, the app could no longer be viewed with a web browser or downloaded, though users who had already downloaded the app could still view available content through March 28, 2024.

Available content

Pokémon TV was available in areas shaded in green

Pokémon TV is available both in the official Pokémon website and as an app in a total of 13 languages: English (United States and United Kingdom), French, German, Italian, European Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Swedish.

As the service is operated by The Pokémon Company International, it is region-locked so that is not available in Asian countries where The Pokémon Company retains distribution rights. In particular, it is not available in Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Brunei, Cambodia, North Korea, South Korea, Samoa, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Mongolia, Myanmar, Macau, Laos, the Philippines, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, Mainland China, and Taiwan. The Nintendo Switch version is currently unavailable in Russia and New Zealand but is due to be released in both.

Episodes

For the American English service, episodes from Pokémon the Series: The Beginning (seasons 1 and 2), Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon (seasons 20, 21, and 22), Pokémon Journeys: The Series (season 23), and Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series (season 24) (UK, German, French only, first 13 episodes only in America) are available.

Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver (season 3, 4, and 5), Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire (seasons 6, 7, 8, and 9), Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl (seasons 10, 11, 12, and 13), Pokémon the Series: Black & White (season 14, 15 and 16), and Pokémon the Series: XY (seasons 17, 18, and 19) were previously available, but have since been rotated out.

Currently, episodes have been added monthly by season and rotated out by series, with the exception of the series that are always available being shown above, Prior to the February 2019 overhaul, the service made ten episodes available for each series, rotating every Friday to remove the earliest five episodes and add the next five.

The episodes below are excluded from rotations in the following languages:

  • Danish: Seasons 3, 4, 5
  • Finnish: Seasons 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
  • Norwegian: Seasons 3, 4, 5, 6
  • Swedish: Seasons 3, 4, 5
  • Russian: Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

The other language services otherwise have identical availability to the American English service with the exception of the currently airing season.

Movies

One Pokémon movie is normally made available for one or two weeks per month in release order. Pokémon 4Ever, Pokémon Heroes: Latios & Latias, Jirachi: Wish Maker, and Destiny Deoxys are not shown on the service due to their rights being owned by Miramax Films. Pokémon 4Ever was previously shown on the service, but has since been skipped in rotations.

The movies below are excluded from rotations in the following languages:

  • Dutch: Movie 4
  • Danish: Movies 1, 8, 9
  • Finnish: Movies 8, 9
  • Norwegian: Movies 8, 9
  • Russian: Movie 4
  • Swedish: Movies 1, 8, 9
  • Brazilian Portuguese: Movie 11

Specials

Pokémon Origins and Pokémon: Twilight Wings are available on the English, French, German, Italian, and European Spanish services. Pokémon Generations is available on the English, French, German, Italian, European Spanish, Dutch, and Brazilian Portuguese services. Pokémon Evolutions is available on the English, French, German, Italian, Latin and European Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese services.

The following specials premiered on Pokémon TV in the United States:

The following specials were also shown on Pokémon TV:

Junior

Nursery rhymes, songs and a series called Pokémon Fun is available in the English, French, German, Latin and European Spanish and Italian services.

More

Play! Pokémon content, specifically Players Cup I-III, Top Deck Academy season 1 and 2, the 2019 World and North America International Championships are available in the English services.

COVID-19 pandemic

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on April 3, 2020, two Pokémon movies began to be added weekly to Pokémon TV as part of a Pokémon Movie Marathon. However, Pokémon: The First Movie, The Power of One, and Spell of the Unown: Entei have been removed.
