Physiology
Dusknoir's body is mostly black, with two almond shaped eye-like markings and a yellow horizontal zigzag line on this Pokémon's torso which can open like a mouth (creating the illusion of a face) and fire powerful attacks. Dusknoir now has fully developed arms. Two yellow bands are near its black wrists and its gray hands are similar to Dusclops's. Dusknoir has a gray, cylinder-shaped head with another yellow band near the top and a single black glaring eye with a yellow iris and a red pupil. The tattered fringes of Dusknoir's lapels converge into a shawl collar on its upper chest. Dusknoir has a ghostly tail rather than feet, reminiscent of a genie, or a stylized 'cartoonish' depiction of a ghost. Dusknoir has a yellow antenna on top of its head in which allows this Pokémon to receive transmissions from the spirit world which tell it to bring people there.
Dusknoir is a primarily black Pokémon that somewhat resembles a cyclops. Its cylindrical head is light gray with a single eye that has a yellow iris and a red pupil. Its eyelid resembles a smiling mouth, with its red eye being a tongue. There is a yellow band near the top of its head, and a short, yellow antenna with a disc-shaped tip extends from on top. Six flat projections extend from the base of its neck and surround its head, resembling an upturned collar. Dusknoir has well-developed arms with two yellow bands near its wrists and large, gray hands. On the front of its torso are two almond-shaped markings, and on its back are two circular markings. Both sets of markings resemble eyes. A yellow band encircles its body, zigzagging along the front and forming a long curve around the back. It has a wispy tail in place of feet.

Gender differences
The antenna on Dusknoir's head allows it to receive transmissions from the spirit world, which tell it to bring people there. Dusknoir usually appears to those who are dead and bring their souls to the afterlife. Because of this, people highly fear Dusknoir. Sometimes, Dusknoir may accidentally take away the souls of those still alive, though this rarely happens. However, the anime has shown it protecting innocent people from being taken to the spirit world. It is unknown if Dusknoir has a will of its own, or if it is forced to follow the bidding of the transmissions it receives. The band on its body can open, similar to a mouth. Dusknoir is capable of using its belly mouth to swallow its target whole. It also uses this ability to take spirits into its body and carry them home or as it travels to unknown places. Dusknoir only consumes spectral essence, leaving only the empty remains of living beings untouched.
None.

Special abilities
Evolution
Dusknoir possess the ability to receive radio waves from the spirit world, and can also hold lost spirits in the mouth-like hole in its belly. Dusknoir also has abilities typical of a Ghost Pokémon, but also has vast physical strength and can perform the elemental punches.
Dusknoir evolves from Dusclops and is the final form of Duskull.

Behavior
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)
They receive radio signals from the spirit world that tell it to bring people there. In the anime however, a Dusknoir was seen protecting Ash and Angie from being sucked into a portal to the spirit realm by a demon.

Trivia
Trivia
*Dusknoir cannot have the ability Levitate, despite the fact that it floats, and its Duskull does.
* In the novelisation of the Ghoul Daze! episode included in the Pokémon Annual 2010, Dusknoir is described on multiple occasions as being metallic.
* Dusknoir and Gengar are the only second evolution Ghosts. Dusknoir is the only one that is purely Ghost-type. Both evolve from their previous forms by trading.
* In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, while the "face" on Dusknoir's stomach seems to have an angry expression, the face on its back appears to be smiling.
** Spinarak has a similar pattern.
* Dusknoir has the highest Defense and Special Defense out of all Ghost-type Pokémon.
* Dusknoir is the second heaviest non-legendary Ghost-type Pokémon, after Spiritomb. It is, however, the heaviest pure Ghost-type, and also the tallest. Of all Ghost-type Pokémon, only Giratina is taller.
* Dusknoir has similarities with Darkrai. They are both portrayed as villains in Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, but they are portrayed as misunderstood heroes in their debut appearances in the anime.
** Also in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, both Pokémon have the same theme played when battled.
** In Ranger: Shadows of Almia, Dusknoir appears as the boss right before Darkrai. Both Pokémon are used by Blake Hall, Team Dim Sun's boss.
* While Dusknoir's name is pronounced "Dusk-nwar" according to English grammar, Battle Revolution mispronounces it as "Dusk-no-are".
* As a Duskull, it had no legs, however, it gains some as a Dusclops, but loses them again as a Dusknoir.
** Although Dusknoir has no legs, it can learn Mega Kick because Dusclops has legs and is therefore able to learn it by move tutor in the Generation III games.
*Dusknoir and Dusclops have the most base moves of all Pokémon, with 8.

Dusknoir (Japanese: ヨノワール Yonoir) is a Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves from Dusclops when traded while holding a Reaper Cloth. It is the final form of Duskull.

(Specifics may differ in past games. Refer to Game data→Evolution data for these details.)

Biology

Dusknoir with its mouth open

Evolution

Dusknoir evolves from Dusclops and is the final form of Duskull.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Trivia

Origin

Dusknoir appears to be a ghostly cyclops. A Japanese one-eyed mountain-dwelling creature named the Yamawaro may also have been the inspiration for this Pokémon. Like Dusclops, due to its round shape and a single eye, it may also be based on the Chōchin-obake, while it guiding lost spirits to the spirit world is similar to the Grim Reaper guiding deceased people to the afterlife. The face on its belly may be based on Jack-o-lanterns. Its ability to receive transmissions from the world of spirits may be based on paranormal explanations for electronic voice phenomena.

Name origin

Dusknoir may be a combination of dusk and noir (French for black).

Yonoir may be a combination of 妖魔 yōma (ghost) or 夜 yoru (night) and noir.
