Physiology
Huntail is a light-blue, aquatic Pokémon with a serpentine body. Orange, semi-circular fins run the length of its spine, and there are two additional fins on the underside of its lower jaw. A large, fan-like fin projects from the top of its head. White spots that are surrounded by orange rings, resembling its eyes, dot its body. It attracts its prey by wagging its fish-shaped tail, which features glowing eye-spots, a single dorsal fin, and a single pectoral fin. Huntail's large mouth features sharp teeth and allows it to gulp its prey whole.
Huntail is a light-blue aquatic Pokémon with a serpentine body. It has orange semi-circle spines running down the length of its back. The tip of Huntail's tail has a slight resemblance to a fish. Huntail's body is dotted with white spots that are bordered by orange rings. Two of these rings are on its face, meant to resemble nostrils. It has a large mouth filled with sharp teeth. Huntail has an orange crest on its head.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Huntail normally attacks with its powerful jaws. Huntail has a strong and sturdy spine which helps it to survive the high levels of water pressure of the depth of the sea where it lives. It also has powerful eyesight.

Like most fully evolved Pokémon, Huntail can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Huntail swims by wiggling its body, though it is not the strongest swimmer. Its sturdy spine and large eyes allows it to survive in the high pressures and darkness of the deep List of Pokémon by habitat. According to tradition, Huntail washing ashore is a sign that something unfortunate will happen.

Behavior
Evolution
Huntail are violent by nature. They use the lure on their tail to attract smaller fish, then attack with their long teeth and swallow the prey whole.
Huntail evolves from Clamperl and is one of its final forms, the other being Gorebyss.

Habitat
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

<div style="float:center; display:flex; flex-flow:row wrap;">
Huntail live at the bottom of the oceans, where their eyes can see in the darkness. Because of this they are very rare and hard to find.

Major appearances
In The Evolutionary War, it is common for people living on the A-B-C Islands, like Keith, to own Huntail. A person has to be on Island C to evolve Clamperl into a Huntail.

In On Land, In the Sea, and to the Future!, Goh's Dewgong spotted a Huntail chasing after a group of Gorebyss and tried to fend it off. ===Origin===
Origin
It appears to have been based on the gulper eel or viperfish. However, it most closely resembles the rarely seen oarfish, mainly because of its orange-colored crest and fins.
Huntail appears to have been based on the Saccopharyngiforms, viperfish, onejaw, or moray eel. It also resembles the rarely seen oarfish, mainly because of its orange-colored crest and fins. Huntail's Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon Pokédex entry may be a reference to the Japanese and Taiwanese belief that beached rare fish (including oarfish) presage earthquakes or tsunamis.

Huntail's tail bears resemblence to Gorebyss's head and serves as a lure to catch prey. The orange appendage on its head might be the shell remainings inherited from Clamperl.

Name origin
Huntail's name seems to be a combination of hunt or 斑点 hanten, speck or fleck, and tail.

Huntail (Japanese: ハンテール Huntail) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Clamperl when traded while holding a Deep Sea Tooth. It is one of Clamperl's final forms, the other being Gorebyss.

Biology

Huntail is a light-blue, aquatic Pokémon with a serpentine body. Orange, semi-circular fins run the length of its spine, and there are two additional fins on the underside of its lower jaw. A large, fan-like fin projects from the top of its head. White spots that are surrounded by orange rings, resembling its eyes, dot its body. It attracts its prey by wagging its fish-shaped tail, which features glowing eye-spots, a single dorsal fin, and a single pectoral fin. Huntail's large mouth features sharp teeth and allows it to gulp its prey whole.

Huntail swims by wiggling its body, though it is not the strongest swimmer. Its sturdy spine and large eyes allows it to survive in the high pressures and darkness of the deep sea. According to tradition, Huntail washing ashore is a sign that something unfortunate will happen.

Evolution

Huntail evolves from Clamperl and is one of its final forms, the other being Gorebyss.

Main series

Major appearances

Huntail attacked Dewgong, Chloe, and Eevee and left them trapped in a cave, only to be attacked by Ash and Goh. After being defeated, Huntail was approached by one of the Gorebyss who had fallen in love with it.

Trivia

Origin

Huntail appears to have been based on the gulper eel, viperfish, onejaw, or moray eel. It also resembles the rarely seen oarfish, mainly because of its orange-colored crest and fins. Huntail's Ultra Moon Pokédex entry may be a reference to the Japanese and Taiwanese belief that beached rare fish (including oarfish) presage earthquakes or tsunamis.

Huntail's tail bears resemblence to Gorebyss's head and serves as a lure to catch prey. The orange appendage on its head might be the shell remainings inherited from Clamperl.

Name origin

Huntail may be a combination of hunt, 斑点 hanten (speck or fleck), and tail.
