Biology
Physiology
Volcarona is a large, moth-like Pokémon with four small feet. It appears to have compound eyes that are two shades of blue, and there is a red horn-like structure on each side of its face. The fuzz on its upper body is smoky white and tangled. Its abdomen is black in the center and light blue with black dots on the outside. It has six leaf-like wings that are orange in color and have small black spots.
Volcarona has four small feet. It has six leaf-like wings that are orange in color and have small black spots. Its eyes appear to be compound and are two shades of blue. The fuzz on its body is a smoky white and in tangles. Its abdomen is blue and its middle is black.

Gender differences
Volcarona releases burning scales from its wings to engulf the battlefield in a sea of fire. Volcarona's flames are said to provide a replacement for the sun when the atmosphere is dark with volcanic ash, and some legends claim that it hatched from a cocoon of raging flames to save people and Pokémon in freezing climates. It was feared as the rage of the sun by ancient people, and it was even worshiped as a deity of fire in some places, they even referred to it as the embodiment of the sun. Volcarona's shrine in Relic Castle remains as a testament to the respect it commanded. Despite being worshiped in cold regions, it is unpopular in hot regions due to its burning body. Volcarona is also considered dangerous due to how it scatters hot burning scales, which can rob the surrounding air of its oxygen.
None.

Special abilities
Slither Wing and Iron Moth bear a resemblance to Volcarona. Slither Wing is believed to be a revived ancestor of Volcarona. Iron Moth is believed to be Volcarona's descendant, possibly a UFO being controlled by alien life for observation.
Volcarona releases fiery scales from its six wings to create a sea of fire. It is said that its fires can replace the sun when it is dark with ash.

Behavior
Volcarona and its Paradox Pokémon counterpart, Iron Moth are the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Fiery Dance.

* Volcarona shares its category with Espeon and Sunflora. They are all known as the Sun Pokémon.
* Volcarona has the highest Special Attack of all Bug Pokémon, and the highest base stat total of all non-legendary Bug-type Pokémon.
* Volcarona evolves from its pre-evolved form Larvesta starting at the highest level of all two-stage evolutionary lines, at level 59.
* Volcarona and Genesect are the only two Bug-type Pokémon to learn Fly, but neither are Flying.
* According to interviews with Ken Sugimori in Nintendo Dream, Volcarona was originally designed with four wings. It was later designed with six wings to make it appear more powerful.

* Volcarona takes the longest to go through a single stage of evolution of all Pokémon, evolving at level 59.
** Of these, Volcarona's Paradox Pokémon are the only ones without a major role in the main story of Pokémon Scarlet or Violet.
* It shares the species name "Sun Pokémon" with Espeon and Sunflora.
* Discounting forms, Volcarona and Larvesta are the last Generation V Pokémon to debut in GO, debuting on May 2, 2023.
* It learns a new move by level up each tenth level, the only exception being level 59.
* Volcarona is the only Pokémon with Paradox Pokémon relatives that can be naturally found in the same area as them.
* Volcarona is the only Pokémon with a catch rate of 15.
* Volcarona is the only Pokémon that has a base stat total of 550.
* Larvesta and Volcarona cannot learn Attract, despite having genders and being compatible with other TMs.  They share this trait with Nincada, although Nincada's inability to learn the move is likely due to a desire to keep the genderless Shedinja from learning it. They also share this trait with Ferroseed and Ferrothorn.
* Volcarona, along with Whimsicott, are the only non-Flying Pokémon able to learn Hurricane.

Origin
Origin
Volcarona is based on a moth, particularly the Attacus atlas. Concept-wise, it may be based on a solar deity, a type of god said to be able to control various aspects of the sun such as sunrise, sunset, eclipses, position, etc. The black spots on its wings represent sunspot. Its wings may be based on the petals of a Lilium lancifolium, having the same number of extensions, black spots, and red-orange coloring. The head and antennae of Volcarona bear a resemblance to the headpiece of Hathor, which depicts the horns of the goddess cradling a disk representing the sun in between. Volcarona's appearance may also be loosely based on that of a seraph, a type of angel that is often associated with fire, as its name literally translates to "burning one". Like Volcarona, seraphim are often depicted with six red wings and no legs. Its color scheme is very similar to some incarnations of Mothra.
Volcarona is based on a moth, presumably the Attacus atlas or Hyalophora cecropia—or possibly the Callosamia_promethea, Prometheus being a Titan god of fire. Its concept may have also been derived from the phrase "like a moth to a flame", which refers to the observed positive phototaxis demonstrated by moths.

Its wings may be based on the petals of a Lilium lancifolium, having the same number of extensions, black spots, and red-orange coloring. It also has motifs of the sun, with the black spots on its wings representing the sunspot. Volcarona may also be based on solar deity. Volcarona's head and antennae bear a resemblance to the headpiece of Hathor, which depicts the horns of the goddess cradling a disk representing the sun in between.

In addition, Volcarona's appearance may be loosely based on a seraph, a type of angel that is often associated with fire, as its name literally translates to "burning one". Like Volcarona, seraphim are often depicted with six red wings and no legs.

Volcarona (Japanese: ウルガモス Ulgamoth) is a dual-type Bug/Fire Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Larvesta starting at level 59.

The Paradox Pokémon Slither Wing and Iron Moth are said to be ancient and future relatives of Volcarona, respectively.

Biology

Volcarona is a large, moth-like Pokémon with four small feet. It appears to have compound eyes that are two shades of blue, and there is a red horn-like structure on each side of its face. The fuzz on its upper body is smoky white and tangled. Its abdomen is black in the center and light blue with black dots on the outside. It has six leaf-like wings that are orange in color and have small black spots.

Slither Wing and Iron Moth bear a resemblance to Volcarona. Slither Wing is believed to be a revived ancestor of Volcarona. Iron Moth is believed to be Volcarona's descendant, possibly a UFO being controlled by alien life for observation.

Volcarona and its Paradox Pokémon counterpart, Iron Moth are the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Fiery Dance.

Illumina Pokémon

Two special Volcarona are worshiped in Lental for being two of the seven guardian Illumina Pokémon. It resides in the Voluca Island Illumina Spot.

Evolution

Volcarona evolves from Larvesta.

Trivia

  • Volcarona shares its category with Espeon and Sunflora. They are all known as the Sun Pokémon.
  • Volcarona evolves from its pre-evolved form Larvesta starting at the highest level of all two-stage evolutionary lines, at level 59.
  • According to interviews with Ken Sugimori in Nintendo Dream, Volcarona was originally designed with four wings. It was later designed with six wings to make it appear more powerful.[1]
  • Volcarona is one of three Pokémon to have two Paradox Pokémon that resemble it, those being Slither Wing and Iron Moth. The other Pokémon with this distinction are Donphan and Cyclizar.
    • Of these, Volcarona's Paradox Pokémon are the only ones without a major role in the main story of Pokémon Scarlet or Violet.
  • Discounting forms, Volcarona and its pre-evolution are the last Generation V Pokémon to debut in Pokémon GO, debuting on May 2, 2023.
  • Volcarona is the only Pokémon with Paradox Pokémon relatives that can be naturally found in the same area as them.

Origin

Volcarona is based on a moth,[1] presumably the Atlas moth or cecropia moth—or possibly the promethea silkmoth, Prometheus being a Titan god of fire. Its concept may have also been derived from the phrase "like a moth to a flame", which refers to the observed positive phototaxis demonstrated by moths.

Its wings may be based on the petals of a tiger lily, having the same number of extensions, black spots, and red-orange coloring. It also has motifs of the sun, with the black spots on its wings representing the dark spots on the sun.[1] Volcarona may also be based on solar deities.

Name origin

Volcarona may be a combination of volcano or Vulcan (Roman god of fire and volcanoes) and corona, referring to its Fire type and status as the Sun Pokémon.

Ulgamoth may be a combination of ウルカヌス Urukanusu (Vulcanus), 蛾 ga (moth), and moth.
