Biology
Biology
Whimsicott is a small, brown bipedal Pokémon with a vaguely sheep-like appearance. There is a cotton-like substance covering its back, neck, and forehead. Behind it is a green, star shaped section similar to the area where a plant connects to its produce. It has orange, oval-shaped eyes and green, curled horns or ears. Whimsicott can manipulate its body to pass through cracks, no matter how narrow. Because of this, Whimsicott is a notorious prankster, moving things and leaving cotton balls behind. It also can ride through whirlwinds.
Whimsicott is a small, brown, bipedal Pokémon. A mane of cotton-like fluff covers its back, neck, and forehead. Behind it is a green, star-shaped section similar to where a stem or vine meets a fruit or flower on a plant. Whimsicott's face features orange, oval-shaped eyes and its face is flanked by a pair of green-colored lobes shaped like curled horns or ears.

In the anime
Whimsicott can manipulate its body to pass through cracks, no matter how narrow. It takes advantage of this ability as a notorious prankster, moving things and leaving cotton balls behind. However, should it get wet, it will be too heavy to move and answer for its pranks. Despite weighing 14.6 lbs (6.6 kg), Whimsicott appears capable of "riding upon the wind" but whether this means they actually generate whirlwinds themselves or get carried by wind currents remains unclear. Whimsicott likes to spend time in the sunlight in order to grow its cotton, though it will tear off and scatter the cotton should it start to build up too much.

Trophy information
Ever found a white ball of fluff you couldn't quite explain? That was likely the work of a Whimsicott. Slipping through the tiniest of cracks like the wind, they like to move furniture around and leave little fluff balls all over the place. Though they look like sheep, they're actually Grass types, and their fluff is more like cotton than wool.

Trivia
Trivia
* Whimsicott represents April in the Unova horoscope.
* Whimsicott and its pre-evolved form were designed by Atsuko Nishida.
* Whimsicott is the only Pokémon with a double weakness to the Poison type and is one of the only three Pokémon to have ever had one, alongside Paras and Parasect, which had one only in Generation I, because Bug was weak to Poison at that time.
* Whimsicott represents April in the Unova horoscope.
* Whimsicott and Lilligant can be seen as counterparts. They share a base stat total of 480, are part of two-stage evolutionary lines, and evolve using a Sun Stone. Additionally, Whimsicott is exclusive to Black and White, Black and White, Sun and Moon, and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, while Lilligant is exclusive to Pokémon White, White 2, Moon, and Ultra Moon.

Origin
Origin
Whimsicott appears to be based on a fully bloomed ball of cotton. It also may draw some origin from the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary, which was a type of sheep-growing plant that was used to explain the production of cotton in the middle ages. It may also have been based on the Brazilian folklore creature known as the Saci (Brazilian folklore); both are brown creatures that live in forests, ride on winds, and play pranks. They also appear to be based on a sheep.
Whimsicott is based on a fully bloomed ball of cotton and a sheep; the connection appears to be made because both cotton and sheep produce clothing material. This association with sheep is reinforced by Whimsicott's inclusion in the Unova horoscope. Designer Atsuko Nishida has also humorously mentioned the Genghis Khan (also known as Jingisukan), a Japanese grilled mutton dish, as an inspiration. Whimsicott may also draw some origin from the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary, a mythical "sheep-growing" plant used to explain the production of cotton in the Middle Ages.

Whimsicott's behavior as a windswept wandering plant seems to be based on tumbleweeds. Furthermore, it displays a mischievous side akin to impish creatures from folklore like the Brazilian Saci (Brazilian folklore); both are brown creatures that live in forests, ride on winds, and play pranks. Its whimsical nature and windborne properties also make it similar to a variety of fairies.

Whimsicott (Japanese: エルフーン Elfuun) is a dual-type Grass/Fairy Pokémon introduced in Generation V. Prior to Generation VI, it was a pure Grass-type Pokémon.

It evolves from Cottonee when it is exposed to a Sun Stone.

Biology

Whimsicott is a small, brown, bipedal Pokémon. A mane of cotton-like fluff covers its back, neck, and forehead. Behind it is a green, star-shaped section similar to where a stem or vine meets a fruit or flower on a plant. Whimsicott's face features orange, oval-shaped eyes and its face is flanked by a pair of green-colored lobes shaped like curled horns or ears.

Evolution

Whimsicott evolves from Cottonee.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Whimsicott also appears as a trophy exclusive to the 3DS version.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Whimsicott returns on the Unova Pokémon League stage.

Trivia

Origin

Whimsicott is based on a fully bloomed ball of cotton and a sheep;[2] the connection appears to be made because both cotton and sheep produce clothing material. This association with sheep is reinforced by Whimsicott's inclusion in the Unova horoscope. Designer Atsuko Nishida has also humorously mentioned the Genghis Khan (also known as Jingisukan), a Japanese grilled mutton dish, as an inspiration.[1] Whimsicott may also draw some origin from the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary, a mythical "sheep-growing" plant used to explain the production of cotton in the Middle Ages.

Whimsicott's behavior as a windswept wandering plant seems to be based on tumbleweeds. Furthermore, it displays a mischievous side akin to impish creatures from folklore like the Brazilian Saci; both are brown creatures that live in forests, ride on winds, and play pranks. Its whimsical nature and windborne properties also make it similar to a variety of fairies.

Name origin

Whimsicott may be a combination of whimsical and cotton.

Elfuun may be a combination of elf and 風 (wind) or typhoon.
