Glalie (Japanese: オニゴーリ Onigohri) is an Ice Pokémon.
Glalie (Japanese: オニゴーリ Onigohri) is an Ice Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Snorunt starting at level 42. It is one of Snorunt's final forms, the other being Froslass.
It evolves from Snorunt starting at level 42. It is one of Snorunt's final forms, the other being Froslass.
Glalie can Mega Evolve into Mega Glalie using the Glalitite.

Biology
Biology
Glalie is a spherical Pokémon that consists of a black rock core covered by ice. The icy covering has several holes and spaces across this Pokémon’s body. Blue eyes and a mouth with flat teeth are visible through three of these holes. There are two large, black, conical horns on either side of Glalie's head. Its icy body will not melt, and it can control ice by freezing moisture in the air. This ability is used to freeze its opponents, which it then consumes. It can be found in List of Pokémon by habitat.

In the anime
There is a legend that says Glalie was born from a boulder that has absorbed the distress and regrets from any mountaineers that got lost on icy mountains. Glalie's icy body is actually rock that is not particularly hard. When covered in ice, its body becomes harder than steel. It does not melt, and it can control ice by instantly freezing moisture in the air into any desirable shape. This ability is used to drape itself in ice armor and freeze its prey, which it then consumes whole. It prefers consuming Pokémon that are already frozen, such as Vanillite. It can be found in List of Pokémon by habitat, particularly when the outside weather lacks snow.

Major appearances
Ash's Glalie
Ash's Snorunt evolved into Glalie in Rhapsody in Drew. It only stayed during the Hoenn League. It is now at Professor Oak's lab.

Other
In the anime, it is shown that Glalie has the ability to make itself float in midair, akin to flying, and move around to even serve as a mode of transport.
A Glalie belonging to a poacher appeared in The Drifting Snorunt!.

A Glalie appeared in Survival of the Striaton Gym! under the ownership of Drago.
Forms
Glalie can Mega Evolve into Mega Glalie.

Minor appearances
Mega Glalie's jaw is dislocated because of the overwhelming energy, causing its mouth to extend to the length of its face. The lower jaw is all black except for two light-blue, conical, icy spikes. The pupils in Mega Glalie's eyes are now red instead of black. The horns on top Mega Glalie's head have been partially turned into ice, with the addition of a third horn on its forehead.
A Glalie appeared in the opening of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.

A Glalie made a brief cameo in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky - Beyond Time & Darkness.
Mega Glalie can spill endless blizzards from its broken mouth, though it gets irritated by the fact that it can no longer consume its prey. The areas Mega Glalie often appears in, will cause the area to be whited out. Any prey that it envelopes within its mouth is frozen instantly.

Glalie evolves from Snorunt and is one of its final forms, the other being Froslass.
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Factory Head is seen picking a Glalie as one of his rental Pokémon in his battle against Emerald. Although it came close to winning by delivering a would-be-fatal Sheer Cold that succeeded in hitting its target, Emerald's Sceptile was in fact, unbeknownst to both Noland and Emerald, not meant to be a rental Pokémon and survived due to its higher level. It eventually lost to Sceptile's Iron Tail, allowing Emerald to win the Knowledge Symbol.

Earlier, Glacia of the Hoenn Elite Four was seen in possession of a Glalie in 21.
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Glalie (Japanese: オニゴーリ Onigohri) is an Ice-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Snorunt starting at level 42. It is one of Snorunt's final forms, the other being Froslass.

Glalie can Mega Evolve into Mega Glalie using the Glalitite.

Biology

Glalie is a spherical Pokémon that consists of a black rock core covered by ice. The icy covering has several holes and spaces across this Pokémon's body. Blue eyes and a mouth with flat teeth are visible through three of these holes. There are two large, black, conical horns on either side of Glalie's head.

It can be found in caves, particularly when the outside weather lacks snow.

In the anime, it is shown that Glalie has the ability to make itself float in midair, akin to flying, and move around to even serve as a mode of transport.

Forms

Glalie can Mega Evolve into Mega Glalie.

Mega Glalie can spill endless blizzards from its broken mouth, though it gets irritated by the fact that it can no longer consume its prey. The areas Mega Glalie often appears in, will cause the area to be whited out. Any prey that it envelopes within its mouth is frozen instantly.

Trivia

Origin

Glalie appears to be based on human features, like those of a cold, distant person or facial expression. It also looks somewhat similar to an ice hockey mask. Due to its Japanese name, horns, and teeth, it may be based on an oni or Tsurube-otoshi. The oni-like features and mask-like appearance may reference the Namahage, demons portrayed by men wearing oni masks and straw capes (mino) as part of a ritual in northern Japan. Glalie's pre-evolution Snorunt appears to wear a mino. It may also be based on onigiri (rice ball), as its Japanese name suggests. It also resembles a hailstone.

Mega Glalie appears to wear a beard.

Name origin

Glalie may be a combination of glacier and goalie.

Onigohri is a combination of 鬼 oni (demon), 氷 kōri (ice), and goalie.[1] It may also as be a pun on onigiri.
