Biology
Biology
Chandelure is a Pokémon that resembles a sentient chandelier. It has a striped, round head, and round, pupil-less yellow eyes. There is a ring of small, black spikes on top of its head with a tall, purple flame in the middle. From a black spike below its head, black arms curl upward. These arms are tipped with purple fire. Chandelure's fires do not burn its victims physically, instead burning their spirit. After hypnotizing its opponent by waving these flames, it absorbs the victim's spirit.

In the anime
Chandelure's flames do not burn their victims physically; rather, they burn the victim's spirit. After hypnotizing its opponent by waving these flames, it absorbs the victim's spirit. It is said that any spirits that get incinerated by Chandelure's flames end up losing their way and are forced to wander the mortal world forever. Chandelure is known to reside in rundown mansions. There is a rumor that funerals were a constant occurrence for people that lived in homes that were illuminated by Chandelure in place of lights.

Trivia
Trivia
* No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Chandelure and its Litwick Lampent.
*In the Pokémon of the Year poll held by The Pokémon Company in 2020, Chandelure was voted the most popular Generation V Pokémon, receiving 50,943 votes. It was also the eighteenth-most popular Pokémon overall.
* In Generation V games, Chandelure and its evolutionary relatives have Shadow Tag instead of Infiltrator as their Hidden Ability. However, they cannot be obtained with their Hidden Ability in these games.
*While Chandelure is unobtainable in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Ingo indirectly mentions his Chandelure at one point while in Wayward Cave, describing it as having "wielded flames with mastery".
*In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U's Smash Run game mode, Chandelure can absorb fire and darkness attacks. The fire immunity can be explained by its possible ability Flash Fire but its immunity to darkness attacks is unfitting considering that Chandelure is weak to Ghost and Dark-type attacks.

Origin
Origin
Chandelure is based on a hitodama (a blue, black, or purple-fire associated with ghosts and yōkai, equivalent to the western will-o'-the-wisp) and a chandelier.
Chandelure may be based on a chandelier and the hitodama or will-o'-the-wisps. It may also take inspiration from chōchin-obake, albeit in a modern, Western style.

Name origin
Name origin
Chandelure may be a combination of chandelier and lure or allure.

Chandelure (Japanese: シャンデラ Chandela) is a dual-type Ghost/Fire Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Lampent when exposed to a Dusk Stone. It is the final form of Litwick.

Evolution

Chandelure evolves from Lampent and is the final form of Litwick.

Trivia

 • In the Pokémon of the Year poll held by The Pokémon Company in 2020, Chandelure was voted the most popular Generation V Pokémon, receiving 50,943 votes. It was also the eighteenth-most popular Pokémon overall.
 • While Chandelure is unobtainable in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Ingo indirectly mentions his Chandelure at one point while in Wayward Cave, describing it as having "wielded flames with mastery".
 • In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U's Smash Run game mode, Chandelure can absorb fire and darkness attacks. The fire immunity can be explained by its possible ability Flash Fire but its immunity to darkness attacks is unfitting considering that Chandelure is weak to Ghost and Dark-type attacks.

Origin

Chandelure may be based on a chandelier and the hitodama or will-o'-the-wisps. It may also take inspiration from chōchin-obake, albeit in a modern, Western style.

Name origin

Chandelure may be a combination of chandelier and lure.

Chandela may be a combination of chandelier and candela (Latin for candle) or candelabra.
