Biology
Biology
Lotad is a small blue Pokémon with a yellow bill-like mouth and six small blue legs. It appears to have a lilypad on its back. It is believed that when a Lotad's leaf becomes too big, it starts to float on the water. However, if Lotad does not drink water for too long, the leaf on its head wilts. Lotad is able to float into the List of Pokémon by habitat and lakes and photosynthesize food for itself without direct competition from others. Lotad is usually quite placid and easygoing. It can also serve as ferries for smaller Pokémon that can't swim. On rare occasions, it travels on land in search of clean water.
Lotad is a small, blue plant Pokémon with six stubby legs. It has large eyes and a wide, yellow mouth similar to a bill. A large leaf that resembles a lilypad covers its back. This large leaf allows Lotad to float across List of Pokémon by habitat, and it will sometimes ferry smaller Pokémon on its back in this manner.

In the anime
The head leaf is a natural dirt-repellent. The leaf can stay clean even after transporting Pokémon covered in mud. However, the leaf will wilt if Lotad becomes dehydrated. Its size and weight prevent Lotad from living on land, but, on rare occasions, it travels on land in search of clean water. Lotad is known to gather in lakes of good water quality. The lake's surfaces are occasionally covered in Lotad leaves.

Main series
Major appearances
Brock's Lotad
In The Lotad Lowdown, three sisters named Natalie, Nicole, and Rita owned a flower shop and a horde of Lotad. One of these Lotad were given to Brock. This particular Lotad was a bit slow and sometimes stared blankly for a few seconds before attacking. In Take the Lombre Home, it evolved into a Lombre. It then evolved into a Ludicolo in Once in a Mawile.
Other
In Oh Do You Know The Poffin Plan!, Forsythia's Lotad was the only one that knew her normally shy Roserade was the one secretly and fearlessly protecting her Berry garden. It later saved Forsythia from TRT's mecha and then convinced Roserade to continue fighting Team Rocket without its red scarf — the only thing that gave it the confidence to act.
In One for the Goomy!, multiple Lotad were startled when James's Inkay attacked the river with Psybeam. They subsequently attacked Team Rocket, as well as Ash and ashfr, with Energy Ball, thus separating the groups from each other.
Multiple Lotad living at Goodra's marsh made semi-regular appearances in Pokémon the Series: XY, starting with Defending the Homeland!.
Minor appearances
Lotad debuted in Johto Photo Finish, where it was seen in Harrison's description of the Hoenn region.
A Coordinator's Lotad appeared in All Things Bright and Beautifly!.
In The Ribbon Cup Caper, a Lotad was at the S.S. St. Flower's Pokémon Center.
A Coordinator's Lotad appeared in Hi Ho Silver Wind!.
A Coordinator's Lotad appeared in What I Did for Love!.
In One Big Happiny Family!, Jessie's fantasy featured a Lotad.
In The Island of Illusions!, a Lotad was living in Grand Spectrala Islet.
In Genesect and the Legend Awakened, multiple Lotad were living in Pokémon Hills.
A Lotad appeared in a flashback in A Slippery Encounter!.
Two Lotad appeared in a flashback in One for the Goomy! and An Oasis of Hope!.
A Trainer's Lotad appeared in Thawing an Icy Panic! and Under the Pledging Tree!. In the latter episode, it was among the Pokémon present during the Coumarine City Festival.
Four Lotad appeared in a flashback in Good Friends, Great Training!.
A Trainer's Lotad appeared in A Performance Pop Quiz!.
A Lotad appeared in Goodbye, Friend!.

Lotad (Japanese: ハスボー Hassboh) is a dual-type Water/Grass Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves into Lombre starting at level 14, which evolves into Ludicolo when exposed to a Water Stone.

Biology

Lotad is a small, blue plant Pokémon with six stubby legs. It has large eyes and a wide, yellow mouth similar to a bill. A large leaf that resembles a lilypad covers its back. This large leaf allows Lotad to float across ponds, and it will sometimes ferry smaller Pokémon on its back in this manner.

Prior to Generation V, Lotad and its evolved forms were the only known Pokémon that could have Rain Dish as an Ability.

Evolution

Lotad evolves into Lombre, which evolves into Ludicolo.

Lotad in the anime

It later saved Forsythia from Team Rocket's mecha and then convinced Roserade to continue fighting Team Rocket without its red scarf — the only thing that gave it the confidence to act.

In One for the Goomy!, multiple Lotad were startled when James's Inkay attacked the river with Psybeam. They subsequently attacked Team Rocket, as well as Ash and his friends, with Energy Ball, thus separating the groups from each other.

Multiple Lotad living at Goodra's marsh made semi-regular appearances in Pokémon the Series: XY, starting with Defending the Homeland!.

Name origin

Hassboh may be a combination of 蓮 hasu (lotus) and 赤ん坊 akanbō (baby) or 帽子 bōshi (hat).
