Fletchinder is an avian Pokémon with predominantly orange and black plumage. It has a sharp, black beak and a small, pointed crest atop its head. Its black eyes have yellow, mask-like marks extending from the back. It upperside is reddish-orange and its belly is gray, with a flame pattern marking the boundary on the breast. Its pointed wings are black with yellow tips and undersides. Its legs are also black, with sharp talons with two toes forward and one back. Its long black tailfeathers are marked with two white "v"-shapes. The tail ends in two points and has another feather sticking out of the base on each side, giving the impression of the fletching on the end of an arrow.
Fletchinder is an avian {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} with predominantly orange and black plumage. It has a sharp, black beak, black eyes with yellow, mask-like markings behind them, and a small, pointed crest on the back of its head. Its upper side is reddish-orange and its belly is gray. There is a flame pattern on its breast where the two colors meet. The tips and undersides of its pointed, black wings are yellow. Its legs are also black with sharp talons and two toes facing forward and one back. Two white, V-shaped markings are located near the tip of its long black tail-feathers. Its tail ends in two points and has another feather sticking out of the base on each side, resembling the {{wp|fletching}} on the end of an arrow.

Fletchinder has a flame sac in its belly. As its internal fire gradually heats up, it can fly at increasingly faster speeds. Fletchinder is known to hunt by igniting tall grass and swooping down on prey that attempt to escape the blaze.
Fletchinder has a flame sac in its belly. It hunts by igniting tall grass and swooping down on bug Pokémon that attempt to escape the blaze. Once captured, the prey is cooked before being consumed. As its internal fire gradually heats up, it can fly at increasingly faster speeds. It is aggressive and territorial, even against its own kind. It often fights with its own kind for the right to feeding grounds. Its territory range has a radius of over one mile, or around 2-3 km.<!--as mentioned in the non-English versions of the Violet dex entry-->

Fletchinder (Japanese: ヒノヤコマ Hinoyakoma) is a dual-type Fire/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation VI.

It evolves from Fletchling starting at level 17 and evolves into Talonflame starting at level 35.

Biology

Fletchinder is an avian Pokémon with predominantly orange and black plumage. Its tail ends in two points and has another feather sticking out of the base on each side, resembling the fletching on the end of an arrow.

Its territory range has a radius of over one mile, or around 2-3 km.

Fletchinder and its evolutionary relatives are the only known Pokémon that can have Gale Wings as an Ability.

Evolution

Fletchinder evolves from Fletchling and evolves into Talonflame.

Trivia

  • Fletchinder is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 382.
  • Fletchinder shares its category with Simisear. They are both known as the Ember Pokémon.
    • In Japanese, the two Pokémon also share their category with Charcadet, namely ひのこポケモン Hinoko Pokémon (Sparks Pokémon).
  • Fletchinder is the first Pokémon, and the only Pokémon in Generation VI, to have an English name more than 10 letters long.
    • This is because games from previous generations had a ten-character limit on English Pokémon names, which can be seen in the shortening of gator to gatr in Feraligatr's name.

Origin

Fletchinder appears to be a cross between a Japanese robin and a waxwing. Its Fire type may be a reference to the flame robin.

Name origin

Fletchinder may be a combination of fletching and tinder or cinder.

Hinoyakoma may be a combination of 火の粉 hinoko (sparks), 矢 ya (arrow), and 駒鳥 komadori (Japanese robin).
