This item was distributed to players via a serial code given in participating stores in European countries. It was available from March 19 to April 19, 2021. To date, this is the only Dynamax Crystal to cause two different Pokémon to appear, however, each one is a Version-exclusive Pokémon.

Trivia
* Due to how the RNG functions for this den, Pokémon found in the Watchtower Lair can be Shiny. However, unlike all other Pokémon Dens in the game, the RNG state, or "seed", does not advance when the system date/time begins a new day, nor when all dens in the Wild Area are exhausted.<br>Instead, it only advances when a Dynamax Crystal is used, meaning that at maximum, there are 11 total chances for the player to obtain a Shiny, (the chances of which are 1/4096 and unaffected by any bonuses), and those 11 seeds are predetermined at the moment the savefile is first generated. This renders traditional methods of advancing the RNG state impossible.
** This also assumes a scenario in which the player has legitimately redeemed all 11 available Dynamax Crystals during their respective event periods, all within in a single Sword or Shield savefile. Additionally, due to these events being distributed through one-time-use serial codes, restarting one's savefile in attempt to generate new results would require different serial codes to be redeemed on each attempt.

The Watchtower Lair (Japanese: ダイ巣穴 Dai Den) is a special Pokémon Den in Pokémon Sword and Shield. It is located in the Watchtower Ruins.

The Watchtower Lair cannot normally have a Max Raid Battle, and Wishing Pieces cannot be used in it. Instead, it can only have Max Raid Battles as a result of using a Dynamax Crystal—an event-exclusive item that always yields a specific Max Raid Battle, depending on the Dynamax Crystal used.

Dynamax Crystals

Each of the following Max Raid Battles only occur when the player uses the corresponding Dynamax Crystal.

Trivia

  • Due to how the RNG functions for this den, Pokémon found in the Watchtower Lair can be Shiny. However, unlike all other Pokémon Dens in the game, the RNG state, or "seed", does not advance when the system date/time begins a new day, nor when all dens in the Wild Area are exhausted.
Instead, it only advances when a Dynamax Crystal is used, meaning that at maximum, there are 11 total chances for the player to obtain a Shiny, (the chances of which are 1/4096 and unaffected by any bonuses), and those 11 seeds are predetermined at the moment the savefile is first generated. This renders traditional methods of advancing the RNG state impossible.
    • This also assumes a scenario in which the player has legitimately redeemed all 11 available Dynamax Crystals during their respective event periods, all within in a single Sword or Shield savefile. Additionally, due to these events being distributed through one-time-use serial codes, restarting one's savefile in attempt to generate new results would require different serial codes to be redeemed on each attempt.
