In The Indigo Disk, Iono can appear in the Blueberry Academy League Club as a special coach, and can be found speaking with Brassius, Larry, Tulip, Grusha, Clavell, or Salvatore. In her conversations with the player, she reveals that she's taking this opportunity at the academy for her next stream, coming up with the title “Gym Leader Iono INFILTRATES this WEIRD ACADEMY! You won’t BELIEVE what she finds!” She then asks the player what her focus should be on, and if the player suggests the director, Cyrano, she describes how risky it could be to bring on a "snoozer guest", and how it'd be a "Top 10 Iono Betrayals moment..." If suggested in their initial meeting, Iono will report back on her second visit to the League Club that Cyrano's appearance made her viewer count rise dramatically due to his natural charisma. After beating her in a rematch, she will give the player the Iono Zone Case as a gift, which she describes as an "SSS-tier drop!"

Iono | Iono is a popular streamer and influencer from the Paldea region who runs the Iono Zone (Japanese: ドンナモンジャTV Donnamonja TV) livestreaming, where she showcases her work as a Gym Leader. She prioritizes viewer engagement and frequently collaborates with other popular figures, such as Tulip, though these collaborations can sometimes affect her self-esteem, and she doesn't like being rejected. Despite her overwhelming popularity making it difficult to go unnoticed, she reveals to Larry that she enjoys the attention.
She is known for her unique habit of mixing languages, a quirk called "Iono-ese" by her and her fans. Her popularity has caught the attention of various significant figures, including Salvatore, who mentions her in his language class, and Grusha, who was a fan of her earlier content before she focused more on clicks and sponsorships. Iono no longer reads the comments on her streams due to negative feedback from certain fans. Salvatore, however, has a more positive relationship with her, affectionately calling her "Mademoiselle Magnemite". Her fans, known as the "Iono Hype Squad", often refer to her as "Miss Iono", while Tulip calls her "Nono". Iono herself calls her fans "Iono Zoners" or simply "chat". She's aware that many of her most loyal fans are students, including those attending Blueberry Academy.
Often valuing her viewers' reactions more than winning battles, Iono sometimes regrets going too far for content, as seen in her conversation with Clavell at the League Club, though she brightened up when Clavell complimented the nickname "Mr. Walksabout" that she gave him on her stream. Interestingly, Iono notices that her viewer count spikes whenever she loses a battle, though she doesn't understand why.
Iono is highly animated in her movements. She often shakes with clenched teeth in awkward or tense situations and, in battle, she continuously steps up and down in place. Her oversized jacket frequently conceals her hands, so actions like waving or holding a Poké Ball are done with her coat's arms. The dainty throwing style she uses in battle is the same as the one available to the player at the League Club and is shared with Poppy.
===Appearance=== | |||
| |||
Iono is a small, thin woman with long arms and legs. Her age is unclear, though she has been a streamer for several years. She has distinctive teal and pink hair that reaches below her knees, styled in two wide ponytails with "bulbs" at the ends and a short pink bang shaped like a ribbon. Her contact lenses feature a gradient of colors, and her unique eyelashes have purple, triangular segments. Her natural hair color might be black, suggested by her short, thin eyebrows. Iono's teeth are jagged and shark-like, which might be a nod to the design of popular virtual YouTuber characters in the real world.
====Clothing and accessories====
Iono's outfit consists of an oversized yellow and black jacket with her logo on the front and stylized Poké Balls on the sleeve straps. Beneath the jacket, she wears a silver bodysuit with a screw-like detail at the neck and a black textured outfit underneath, extending to her thighs. Her shoes, matching the bodysuit in color, have high heels and a yellow outsole, with a protruding "screw". All her clothing items feature a hexagonal pattern. She also sports a black strap on her left thigh with gray text.
Two "fancy shmancy" Magnemite-shaped hair clips animate and mimic Iono's emotions. These clips can express various reactions and have been shown to act independently, including causing a "bzzt-bzzt-smash rampage" in Chargestone Cavern. Strangely, Iono never uses any member of the Magnemite line on her team, although she offers to trade a Magnemite to the player in The Indigo Disk.

Iono first appeared in Someone We Can't See! Whosawhatsit?, where she was is revealed to be friends with Dot. Iono was contacted by Dot to help her find Liko, who was missing. Taking the opportunity, Iono asked Dot if she wanted to do a collaboration in her live show as Nidothing to better spread the word. With the help of Iono, Dot was able to locate Liko in Levincia. Iono then turned the search into a game of tag and later congratulated Roy for finding Liko and thanked Liko for her help in making her stream a hit.
In Respective Departures, Iono reappeared talking to Dot via video conference, she showed that she knew that Dot had finally become a Trainer and soon after when she was interrupted by Liko and Roy, she talked to Liko a little about her friendship with Dot and wished everyone to have fun at the planned party for Diana's farewell to Brave Olivine.
{|style="margin:auto; text-align:center; {{ | In A Wild Mom Appears!, Iono appeared in a flashback that took place before Dot joined the Rising Volt Tacklers. In The Plan to Capture Rayquaza, Iono appeared hosting an edition of Iono Zone when she was interrupted by the appearance of the Black Rayquaza in the skies, dancing animatedly and striking the pose in her artwork before spotting it some distance away.
Iono appeared in a flashback to Liko and Roy's journey in From So Far Away.
In HZ046, Iono was selected as Dot's challenge as part of Terastal Training.
Sometime after Dot, Liko, and Roy began their training, Iono helped the Rising Volt Tacklers get a place to keep the Brave Olivine safe while it was repaired.
In HZ049, Iono met Dot again at the dock where the Brave Olivine was docked. Seeing Dot's insecurity without the Nidothing outfit, Iono proposed that Dot battle as Nidothing and that, in the meantime, Roy had a training battle with Dot. Later, upon seeing Dot's confidence in winning a battle alongside Dot, Iono announced in a video that Dot would be her opponent in an online event. In secret, Iono revealed that she would like to face Dot as Nidothing because it would increase her online audience, but she was happy for her friend.
In HZ050, Iono participated in another Nidothing video, with her outgoing personality, Iono overshadowed Dot a little when the two were talking about the upcoming battle between the two. The next day, Iono finally had her battle with Dot, and despite the efforts of Dot and Dot, Iono managed to win the battle. After the battle, Iono approved Dot in the Terastal Training and congratulated Dot for understanding a little more how to evolve as a Trainer.
In HZ055, Iono participated in the Elite Four Tag Battle as Dot's partner. They faced against Poppy, with Iono doing most of the fighting during Dot's frequent moments of uncertainty, eventually leading to her defeating Poppy's Copperajah and winning the battle for her and Dot. Despite Dot feeling she didn't do much to benefit her side in the battle, Iono agreed with Poppy that Dot was just thinking too hard about it and then took her leave.

====Character==== | |||
In the anime, Iono shares many of the characteristics and personality of her game counterpart, being very excitable and upbeat with a mischevious and outgoing nature. As a famous streamer Iono is very eccentric as well as being technologically savy and she has many fans worldwide. She also showed a lot of affection for Dot who she considers a close friend, especially when she asked Liko to protect Dot. Iono is also a kind and encouraging person as seen when she encouraged Dot to have more fun in battles.
====Design==== | |||
| |||
Iono was adapted for Pokémon Horizons: The Series by the series' character designers. As can be seen in her concept art, Iono's Magnemite hair clips can move independently, especially when jumping upwards in a state of surprise. This is similar to the games, so much so that the concept art for her appearance in Scarlet and Violet also makes note of this. Despite this, her design is simpler for animation, as she lacks the hexagonal pattern that travels up her clothing and boots.
| |||
Her debut episode was animation directed by Masaaki Iwane, who solo-animates almost all of the episodes he participates on. As a result, Iono's first appearance was entirely animated in his style, where he uses a variety of animation techniques idiosyncratic to him. Her personality is made clear by Iwane's strong understanding of animation timing, allowing him to hold her on dynamic poses with very little in-betweens, which then snap together to create a wealth of exaggerated movements, such as when she's addressing her fans after Liko has been found. To further emphasize this, he often animates her more drawn-out movements on every single frame, which makes her movements appear even more erratic when snapping back to more limited animation, all in a very short timespan.
In both Iono's reveal trailer and game debut in Generation IX, she often tends to step in place, something that is absent from her movement in the anime.
She appeared briefly in Respective Departures without her hair accessories, which according to her, is part of her personality and who she really is.

===Pokémon Scarlet and Violet===
| |||
Iono was initially revealed to the public on October 12th, 2022, in a video uploaded to all official Pokémon YouTube channels titled Guess Iono’s Partner Pokémon! with the intent to tease the reveal of her partner Pokémon, Bellibolt, just two days later in Meet Bellibolt. An announcement of her reveal was made just one day prior, with the Japanese account including a silhouetted tease of her design. In the videos, she dances around animatedly, spouts her usual catchphrases, and baits the audience to catch the full reveal, letting slip that she chose to do so to rack up the on her follow-up.
Her voice in these reveals went uncredited for a whole year until the release of Breathe In, which, in re-using audio from this animation for a short cameo featuring Iono, confirms her voice actress here was Fairouz Ai.

===Let's Play the Pokémon Card Game!===
| |||
Monjana (Japanese: もんじゃな Monjana), a cross-canon counterpart of Iono, appeared in the Scarlet & Violet arc of Let's Play the Pokémon Card Game!, where she battles against the protagonists. Her deck is themed around Electric Pokémon, such as Pikachu and Pawmi, and often mentions how lucky she is at the game. Monjana's personality appears to be similar to that of Iono's in Scarlet and Violet, as she maintains a thoroughly smug attitude throughout both of her battles, though her design is radically different. The Magnemite-shaped hairclips have been replaced with Master Balls, and her hair now curves below her face in the shape of lightning bolts. Additionally, she now has an actual ribbon in her hair, as opposed to having her hair styled like a ribbon above her fringe.
| |||
Her design is far simpler in this manga; her sharp teeth have been removed in favor of a single fang, with further simplifications made to her boots and singular thigh high, the latter of which was removed. Her jacket now resembles a Bellibolt in spite of it not making an appearance in Monjana's deck during the chapter she is in, but its expression on the jacket shifts depending on Monjana's own personality for comedic effect.

===Paldea Evolved=== | |||
Iono (Paldea Evolved 185)
Iono was introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Clay Burst expansion and the English Paldea Evolved expansion. An ultra rare version and a special illustration rare version of the card were released in the same sets. The card makes both players return their hand to the bottom of their deck, and draw a new hand consisting of as many cards as they have Prize cards remaining.

In her conversations with the player, she reveals that she's taking this opportunity at the academy for her next stream, coming up with the title “Gym Leader Iono INFILTRATES this WEIRD ACADEMY! You won’t BELIEVE what she finds!”[3] She then asks the player what her focus should be on, and if the player suggests the director, Cyrano, she describes how risky it could be to bring on a "snoozer guest", and how it'd be a "Top 10 Iono Betrayals moment..."[4] If suggested in their initial meeting, Iono will report back on her second visit to the League Club that Cyrano's appearance made her viewer count rise dramatically due to his natural charisma.[5] After beating her in a rematch, she will give the player the Iono Zone Case as a gift, which she describes as an "SSS-tier drop!"[6]
Character
Iono is a popular streamer and influencer from the Paldea region who runs the Iono Zone (Japanese: ドンナモンジャTV Donnamonja TV) livestream, where she showcases her work as a Gym Leader.[7] She prioritizes viewer engagement[8] and frequently collaborates with other popular figures, such as Tulip, though these collaborations can sometimes affect her self-esteem,[9] and she doesn't like being rejected.[10] Despite her overwhelming popularity making it difficult to go unnoticed,[11] she reveals to Larry that she enjoys the attention.[12]
Iono no longer reads the comments on her streams due to negative feedback from certain fans.[13] Salvatore, however, has a more positive relationship with her, affectionately calling her "Mademoiselle Magnemite".[14] Her fans, known as the "Iono Hype Squad", often refer to her as "Miss Iono", while Tulip calls her "Nono".[9] Iono herself calls her fans "Iono Zoners" or simply "chat".[15][16] She's aware that many of her most loyal fans are students, including those attending Blueberry Academy.[17][18][19]
Often valuing her viewers' reactions more than winning battles, Iono sometimes regrets going too far for content, as seen in her conversation with Clavell at the League Club, though she brightened up when Clavell complimented the nickname "Mr. Walksabout" that she gave him on her stream.[20] Interestingly, Iono notices that her viewer count spikes whenever she loses a battle, though she doesn't understand why.[21]
Appearance
Iono is a small, thin woman with long arms and legs. Her age is unclear, though she has been a streamer for several years. She has distinctive teal and pink hair that reaches below her knees, styled in two wide ponytails with "bulbs" at the ends and a short pink bang shaped like a ribbon.[22] Her contact lenses feature a gradient of colors, and her unique eyelashes have purple, triangular segments. Her natural hair color might be black, suggested by her short, thin eyebrows. Iono's teeth are jagged and shark-like, which might be a nod to the design of popular virtual YouTuber characters in the real world.
Clothing and accessories
Iono's outfit consists of an oversized yellow and black jacket with her logo on the front and stylized Poké Balls on the sleeve straps. Beneath the jacket, she wears a silver bodysuit with a screw-like detail at the neck and a black textured outfit underneath, extending to her thighs. Her shoes, matching the bodysuit in color, have high heels and a yellow outsole, with a protruding "screw". All her clothing items feature a hexagonal pattern. She also sports a black strap on her left thigh with gray text.
Two "fancy shmancy"[7] Magnemite-shaped hair clips animate and mimic Iono's emotions. These clips can express various reactions and have been shown to act independently, including causing a "bzzt-bzzt-smash rampage" in Chargestone Cavern.[15] Strangely, Iono never uses any member of the Magnemite line on her team, although she offers to trade a Magnemite to the player in The Indigo Disk.
Pokémon
Iono will Terastallize her Mismagius at the first opportunity.
All of her Pokémon are kept in Ultra Balls.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series
In A Wild Mom Appears!, Iono appeared in a flashback that took place before Dot joined the Rising Volt Tacklers. During a livestream in the Iono Zone, she read a comment from Dot about how to deal with a dilemma. Following Iono's response, Dot got the impetus she felt she needed to join the group.
Later, upon seeing Dot's confidence in winning a battle alongside Quaxly, Iono announced in a video that Dot would be her opponent in an online event.
The next day, Iono finally had her battle with Dot, and despite the efforts of Dot and Quaxly, Iono managed to win the battle.
Character
In the anime, Iono shares many of the characteristics and personality of her game counterpart, being very excitable and upbeat with a mischevious and outgoing nature. As a famous streamer Iono is very eccentric as well as being technologically savy and she has many fans worldwide. She also showed a lot of affection for Dot who she considers a close friend, especially when she asked Liko to protect Dot. Iono is also a kind and encouraging person as seen when she encouraged Dot to have more fun in battles.
Design
Iono was adapted for Pokémon Horizons: The Series by the series' character designers. As can be seen in her concept art, Iono's Magnemite hair clips can move independently, especially when jumping upwards in a state of surprise. This is similar to the games, so much so that the concept art for her appearance in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also makes note of this. Despite this, her design is simpler for animation, as she lacks the hexagonal pattern that travels up her clothing and boots.
Her debut episode was animation directed by Masaaki Iwane, who solo-animates almost all of the episodes he participates on.[23] As a result, Iono's first appearance was entirely animated in his style, where he uses a variety of animation techniques idiosyncratic to him.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Iono was initially revealed to the public on October 12th, 2022, in a video uploaded to all official Pokémon YouTube channels titled Guess Iono’s Partner Pokémon![24] with the intent to tease the reveal of her partner Pokémon, Bellibolt, just two days later in Meet Bellibolt.[25] An announcement of her reveal was made just one day prior, with the Japanese account including a silhouetted tease of her design.[26] In the videos, she dances around animatedly, spouts her usual catchphrases, and baits the audience to catch the full reveal, letting slip that she chose to do so to rack up the on her follow-up.
Her voice in these reveals went uncredited for a whole year until the release of Breathe In, which, in re-using audio from this animation for a short cameo featuring Iono, confirms her voice actress here was Fairouz Ai.[27]

Let's Play the Pokémon Card Game!
Monjana (Japanese: もんじゃな Monjana), a cross-canon counterpart of Iono, appeared in the Scarlet & Violet arc of Let's Play the Pokémon Card Game!, where she battles against the protagonists. Her deck is themed around Electric-type Pokémon, such as Pikachu and Pawmi, and often mentions how lucky she is at the game.[28] Monjana's personality appears to be similar to that of Iono's in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as she maintains a thoroughly smug attitude throughout both of her battles, though her design is radically different. The Magnemite-shaped hairclips have been replaced with Master Balls, and her hair now curves below her face in the shape of lightning bolts. Additionally, she now has an actual ribbon in her hair, as opposed to having her hair styled like a ribbon above her fringe.
