Slaking is a large, bulky, ape-like bipedal Pokémon. Most of its shaggy fur is brown, along with the semi-circle patterning under its eyes. Its face, chest, hands, and feet are lighter in color. Its brows are thick and jutting, and it has a large, pink, pig-like nose. Around its neck is a white collar of fur that extends over the top of its head before ending in a small tuft. It has large, five-fingered hands and two-toed feet.

During most of the day, Slaking lolls around and sleeps. It is considered the laziest Pokémon, but even when it is lounging it's saving energy. It can exert a lot of power by releasing built-up energy all at once and is said to be feared for its immense strength. In Generation III, Slack Off was its signature move. Slaking lives in List of Pokémon by habitat, where it feeds on grass and ripened fruit that falls from trees. It only moves around when there is no more food within reach for it to eat.

Norman's Slaking
Norman's signature Pokémon is a Norman, who first appeared in Brushing Past Breloom. Although it would seem that his Truant would be of a major hindrance, he shows that by having a Spinda tag alongside him and use Skill Swap in times of need, his impressive strength and speed would be wielded to their maximum. Additionally, the move Bulk Up allows him to bolster his stats even more.

Emerald used a Slaking during his Battle Factory challenge in Pinsir Me, I Must Be Dreaming. Thanks to Slack Off, it was able to outlast a Hitmonlee despite its type and speed disadvantages. After the battle, it was swapped with a Linoone.

The Battle Factory rented a Slaking, which was stolen by Guile Hideout in Skirting Around Surskit I.

Spenser used a Slaking against the young boy in Standing in the Way with Starmie, but their battle was not seen.

A Slaking appeared in a flashback as one of the Pokémon trained by the International Police in Innocent Scientist.

Origin
Origin
Slaking appears to draw inspiration from sloths. The inspiration from sloths makes it somewhat resemble a Megatherium, also known as the giant ground sloth; however, it more closely resembles a gorilla. Due to its baldness, pink nose, and white fur on its head and around its neck, Slaking could also draw inspiration from an elderly man.

Slaking's evolutionary line goes through three stages of energy, where  Slakoth is lazy, Vigoroth becomes extraordinarily energetic, and later Slaking becomes lazy again. This may be a reference to the Sphinx#Riddle of the Sphinx, in which the baby crawls on four legs, the adult has the most energy and walks on two legs, and the old man walks on three legs, one of which is a cane. In the case of Slaking, two legs and an arm touch the ground in its most preferable position.

Slaking (Japanese: ケッキング Kekking) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Vigoroth starting at level 36. It is the final form of Slakoth.

Biology

Slaking is a large, bulky, ape-like bipedal Pokémon. Most of its shaggy fur is brown, along with the semi-circle patterning under its eyes. Its face, chest, hands, and feet are lighter in color. Its brows are thick and jutting, and it has a large, pink snout.

Slaking lives in tropical forests, where it feeds on grass and ripened fruit that falls from trees. It only moves around when there is no more food within reach for it to eat. As mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex, it is rare to see Slaking dozing off while consuming the grass around it.[1]

In Generation III, Slack Off was its signature move. Prior to Generation V and in Generation IX, Slaking and its unevolved form, Slakoth, are the only known Pokémon that can have Truant as an Ability.

Evolution

Slaking evolves from Vigoroth and is the final form of Slakoth.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Norman's signature Pokémon is a Slaking, who first appeared in Brushing Past Breloom. Although it would seem that his Ability would be of a major hindrance, he shows that by having a Spinda tag alongside him and use Skill Swap in times of need, his impressive strength and speed would be wielded to their maximum.

Trivia

Origin

Slaking appears to draw inspiration from sloths. The inspiration from sloths makes it somewhat resemble a Megatherium, also known as the giant ground sloth; however, it more closely resembles a gorilla. Due to its baldness, pink snout, and white fur on its head and around its neck, Slaking could also draw inspiration from an elderly man.

Slaking's evolutionary line goes through three stages of energy, where Slakoth is lazy, Vigoroth becomes extraordinarily energetic, and later Slaking becomes lazy again. This may be a reference to the Sphinx's riddle, in which the baby crawls on four legs, the adult has the most energy and walks on two legs, and the old man walks on three legs, one of which is a cane. In the case of Slaking, two legs and an arm touch the ground in its most preferable position.

Name origin

Slaking may be a combination of slacking and king.

Kekking may be a combination of 欠勤 kekkin (absence from work) and king.
