Hi Jump Kick (Japanese: とびひざげり Jumping Flame Kick) is a slightly inaccurate damage-dealing Fighting move introduced in Generation I.

High Jump Kick (Japanese: とびひざげり Jumping Knee Kick), spelled Hi Jump Kick prior to Pokémon X and Y, is a damage-dealing Fighting move introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation III, it was one of the signature moves of Hitmonlee, but Tyrogue could still inherit it via breeding.

Effect
Effect
Hi Jump Kick does damage, however, if this attack misses, the user will crash and take damage. Since all attacks that do 0 damage are considered a miss, Hi Jump Kick will always miss if used against a Ghost.
Generation I
Hi Jump Kick does damage with a power of 85. If it misses, the user will take crash damage of 1 HP. If used against a Ghost, then the user will not take crash damage.

If the user of Hi Jump Kick attacks first and faints itself due to crash damage, the opponent will not attack or be subjected to recurrent damage during that round. However, the user will still be subject to recurrent damage.
In Generations I-III, if the user of Hi Jump Kick attacks first and faints itself due to crash damage, the target will not attack.

The crash damage from Hi Jump Kick can be reversed by Bide or Counter.
Generation II
The crash damage is now 1/8 of the damage it would have dealt. The user will take crash damage if Hi Jump Kick is protected against by a move such as Protect, but not due to type immunity (only the type immunity message is displayed).

Generation III
The crash damage is now 1/2 of the damage it would have dealt.

Hi Jump Kick can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 6 bonus appeal points if Mind Reader was used in the previous turn.

Generation IV
Hi Jump Kick's base power is increased from 85 to 100. It cannot be used if Gravity is in effect.

The user can now crash due to a target's type immunity, and will take crash damage equal to half of the target's max HP in that case.

The user will not take crash damage if Hi Jump Kick fails due to there being no remaining targets.

Generation V onwards
High Jump Kick's base power is increased from 100 to 130, and its PP is reduced from 20 to 10. The crash damage is now (always) equal to half of the user's max HP, rounded down.

High Jump Kick (Japanese: とびひざげり Jumping Knee Kick), spelled Hi Jump Kick prior to Pokémon X and Y, is a damage-dealing Fighting-type move introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation III, it was one of the signature moves of Hitmonlee, but Tyrogue could still inherit it via breeding.

Effect

Generation I

Hi Jump Kick does damage with a power of 85. If it misses, the user will take crash damage of 1 HP. If used against a Ghost-type, then the user will not take crash damage.

In Generations I-III, if the user of Hi Jump Kick attacks first and faints itself due to crash damage, the target will not attack.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series

High Jump Kick inflicts damage, and the final damage is multiplied by two in the Rescue Team and Explorers series.

If the move misses the target, the user receives recoil damage (equal to ½ of the damage that would have otherwise been dealt in the Rescue Team and Explorers series; 50% of the user's max HP in Gates to Infinity, and 30% of the user's max HP in Super Mystery Dungeon).
