Iron Tail (Japanese: アイアンテール Iron Tail) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation II.
Effect
Iron Tail inflicts damage and has a 10% chance of lowering the target's Defense stat by one stage.

Trivia
- Despite the narrative implying the need for a tail to perform this attack, Pokémon that lose their tails when they evolve (such as Primeape) or do not have a tail but gain one upon evolution (such as Rhyhorn) can still learn and use this attack.
- Despite the Sinnoh Water-type starter being the only to have a Steel-type trace (Empoleon being a Steel-type), they are the only of the Sinnoh starters not able to learn Iron Tail.
- Iron Tail is one of the most common moves in the anime despite being virtually unused in competitive battling.
