Volt (Japanese: V lit. Boruto) is the first opening song of the XY series. It debuted with XY001, replacing Summerly Slope of the Best Wishes series.
A remixed version, Mega V (Japanese: メガV lit. Mega Boruto), was introduced into the credits at SS029, and ultimately replaced the opening song of the series starting from XY029.

Opening animation spoilers
- Ash capturing a Froakie and a Fletchling.
- Serena obtaining a Fennekin.
- Clemont having a Bunnelby and a Chespin.
- Bonnie obtaining a Dedenne.
Trivia
- During one scene, the main characters are seen standing on a bridge looking at the Palais de l'Isle in Annecy, France.
- In a preview shown on Pocket Monsters XY: Road to Kalos, the opening had several differences to the version aired with XY001.
- The camera rises to the sky much faster than in the preview version during the beginning scene.
- Two Elegant Pattern Vivillon are added to the scene where Swanna are flying behind some grapes.
- In the scene where the main characters run across a street, Serena's body and ponytail are redrawn.
- Also, a minor coloration error regarding the right strap on Ash's backpack is fixed.
- When the main characters are standing in the hills, more hair is added on Ash's head, and his hat is slightly redrawn.
- During Ash's face shot scene, more grass is added beneath his feet, his nose, eyes and cheek birthmarks are redrawn, and a white stripe is added to the background.
- During Serena's face shot scene, the image of her face moves across the screen instead of being still, her nose and eyes are redrawn, and colored dots are added to the background.
- During Clemont and Bonnie's face shot scene, the images of their heads are slightly relocated, their eyes, noses and backpacks are redrawn, and a blue decoration is added to the background.
- During the transitions between these face shots, the characters now appear blurred when they move.
- After Meowth falls off Team Rocket's balloon, the camera zooms out in the preview version. However, this isn't the case in the final opening.
- When Ash is seen running in a field, sunlight and motion blur effects are added.
- The scenery and camera angle have changed as well; due to this, Ash is also slightly redrawn during some frames.
- The rocky outcrop appearing before Ash is remodeled, and the shading is changed.
- The Gym Leaders' order was changed so that it matches the order they are fought in Pokémon X and Y.
- Motion blur is added throughout the battling scene between Pikachu and Pangoro, along with other animation changes.
- The scenery is remodeled, the sky being recolored and some trees being relocated.
- Pikachu is redrawn in some frames, and more motion blur effects are added to him when he is using Quick Attack.
- When Pikachu hits Pangoro with Iron Tail, the latter is given a yellow coloration during the impacts in the preview version, like if Pikachu was using an Electric attack. This is corrected in the final version.
- Lighting effects are added to Pangoro and the rocks Pikachu hit with Thunderbolt. A shadow is also added to Pangoro.
- During the scene where the protagonists' Pokémon are seen using their moves, the background scenery is less blurry and now features a rocky outcrop in the forest, along with relocated mountains.
- The mud drops appearing when Clemont's Bunnelby uses Dig are changed to white flashing dot effects.
- Ash's nose is given a shadow, which was not fully colored in the preview version.
- Ash's Froakie now has a Water Pulse sphere in each of his hands, and he aims the move much closer to the camera.
- The Mega Evolution logo effects are slightly remodeled.
- When the ground breaks during Mega Lucario's appearance, the camera shakes differently.
- The effects on the Xerneas and Yveltal scene are slightly different.
- The Y in the XY series logo is given a brighter coloration.
- The effects during the final group shot are changed. In the preview version, the group is drawn normally and the art style changes vastly after they pose; while in the final version, the art style is different and is present during the whole scene.
Errors
- During the scene with a rainy town, a female Meowstic has the tails of a male Meowstic.
- During the scene when a rocky outcrop appears in front of Ash and the camera shakes, his legs are seen cut off in one frame.
- During Pikachu's battle against a Honedge and a Pangoro, Pikachu used Quick Attack on Honedge and it worked despite Ghost-type Pokémon being immune to Normal-type moves.
