Hammerlocke vault
- Main article: Hammerlocke Stadium → Trainers
Three Gym Trainers are battled at the vault during Hammerlocke Stadium's Gym mission.
In the anime
Hammerlocke was one of the main settings of the Sword and Shield arc, first appearing in Sword and Shield, Slumbering Weald!, as a burst of Galar particles escaped from the Energy Plant. The same happened again in the following episode, prompting Leon to investigate Rose's actions. In Sword and Shield: "From Here to Eternatus!", Eternatus escaped from the Energy Plant and started the Darkest Day. While Leon engaged Eternatus above the Hammerlocke Stadium and Ash battled Rose at the Stadium battlefield, Sonia and Goh arrived in the city and busted through the barrier of Macro Cosmos employees guarding the Stadium entrance. As Goh entered the Stadium and started battling Oleana, Sonia was joined by Raihan, who easily defeated the Macro Cosmos employees, before heading off to deal with rampaging Dynamax Pokémon.
In Sword and Shield... The Legends Awaken!, after defeating Rose and Oleana respectively, Ash and Goh rushed to the summit of Hammerlocke Stadium just in time to see Leon being defeated by Eternatus. Using the Rusted Sword and Rusted Shield Goh had found at the Slumbering Weald, they summoned Zacian and Zamazenta to their aid and succeeded in defeating and catching Eternatus, ending the Darkest Day.

Pokémon Adventures
Hammerlocke first appeared in PASS11, where Raihan was seen examining the progress of the remaining Gym Challengers.
In PASS12, when Henry arrived at the Hammerlocke entrance, Raihan challenged him to a battle and beat him. He explained that due to him constantly losing against Leon, he was in need of material of himself being victorious in battle to post in the social media. Afterwards, he took Henry to the vault, where they found Sonia being attacked by a wild Oranguru. When Sonia explained that it had started attacking her after she had accidentally stepped on its fan, Henry figured out that it was mad because the fur on its fan had gotten messed up. After he had tidied up the fan with a brush, Oranguru calmed down and even asked to be caught by Henry, which he agreed to. Afterwards, they entered the vault and examined the four tapestries present there. After rejoining with Casey and meeting Opal, Henry traveled to Stow-on-Side with them.
In PASS16, Bede was in Hammerlocke after Chairman Rose had revoked his Gym Challenger status, receiving a letter sent for him by Opal just as a big quake shook the city. In PASS17, Raihan managed to convince Leon into focusing his attention on protecting the civilians while he investigated what had happened, sneaking into the Energy Plant. He was soon found out by Chairman Rose, who explained the quake away as a failed experiment, although Raihan didn't buy it.
In PASS25, following Chairman Rose starting the Darkest Day, a pair of Interviewers started a live broadcast from Hammerlocke to cover the event, soon noticing Eternatus flying down from the sky. They were then approached by Sordward and Shielbert, who revealed Eternatus's identity to them and presented themselves as descendants of the heroes who had once defeated it in the ancient past. Later, most of the Galar Gym Leaders, Henry, Casey, Leon, Sonia, Hop, Marnie, and Bede pursued them to the Energy Plant, where they encountered Chairman Rose, who locked them in and let them observe a live feed of Sordward and Shielbert battling Eternatus on the Tower Summit. When the two brothers failed to defeat Eternatus, Rose challenged it himself.

Trivia
- Hammerlocke has the fewest stores than any other city in the Galar region, with just three: the cafeteria, the salon, and the boutique.
- As seen from afar, the city is shaped like a flying dragon, with the entrance being the head, the platforms forming its wings, and the castle towers resembling its tail.
- As mentioned in the city slogan, the appearance of Hammerlocke takes its inspiration from Medieval architecture.
- Hammerlocke is tied with Lumiose City for having the most Pokémon Centers in a single city, with three.
