Memento (Japanese: おきみやげ Memento) is a non-damaging Dark-type move introduced in Generation III.
Effect
Generation III
Memento causes the user to faint and in return lowers the Attack and Special Attack stat of the target by two stages each.
Memento bypasses accuracy checks to always hit.
The user will always faint if it is blocked by a protection move. The user will also faint even if Memento fails (such as if it is blocked by substitute) or if it is unable to affect the target's stats (such as due to Clear Body or Mist), but the user will not faint if Memento is unable to affect the target's stats due to both stats already being at -6.
Generation IV onward
Memento no longer bypasses accuracy checks, and has an accuracy of 100.
The user will not faint if Memento fails (such as if it has no target or is blocked by substitute), if the target is immune (such as due to being Dark-type and Memento's priority is boosted by the user's Prankster in Generation VII onward), or if it is blocked by a protection move. However, the user will faint even if Memento is unable to affect the target's stats (such as due to Clear Body or if both stats are already at -6).
Memento can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points if any of the moves Block, Mean Look or Spider Web was used in the prior turn.
If powered up by a Darkinium Z into Z-Memento, if a Pokémon is switched in to replace the user the same turn, that Pokémon has its HP fully restored (even if Z-Memento was not used successfully after gaining its Z-Power effect). Due to a glitch, this effect is not applied in version 1.0 of Sun and Moon.

In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, and Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, Memento is a move with 15PP and 100% accuracy. The user targets all enemies in the room, cutting their Attack and Sp. Atk stats to ¼ of the original value, afterwards warping to somewhere else on the floor (if possible), with only 1HP left. This reduction is separate from the stat stages, and is only shared with Aurora Beam and Charm for the Attack stat. The reduction can be applied multiple times, up to 1/128. In hallways, this move targets Pokémon up two tiles away (or one in one-tile darkness). This move is affected by Taunt.

Trivia
- In Generation III, the status screen erroneously states that the move has 100% accuracy, even though it ignores accuracy and evasion checks.
- Memento is the only stat lowering status move that is not reflected by Magic Bounce.
- This move's name (particularly its German name) is a reference to the Latin phrase memento mori, meaning "remember that you will die".
- A glitch in Generation VII's Battle Spot caused battles to crash when Memento was used as a Z-Move. The same problem occurred with Parting Shot. As a result, both moves were temporarily banned from Battle Spot battles starting in November 2016. The glitch was fixed in the version 1.1 update.
